Q. How long does it take generallky for the swelling to go down after normal liposuction surgery and could you tell me if there are other techqniques that offer a smaller recobvery time with less swelling?

A. Thank you for your enquiry.   The extent of the swelling after liposuction depends very much on the volume reduction that is operated at the time of treatment.   I have found that radiofrequency-assisted liposuction ( Bodytite) leads to less bruising and in some instances faster resolution of the swelling, although this is not universal.   Techniques that involve a shorter recovery time, I usually techniques that have less visible impact in the treatment area, and would typically be represented by the externally applied ultrasound.   In smaller volume treatments, laser assisted liposuction may also have a quicker recovery time, but I have not found to the laser assisted liposuction to be very useful for a larger volume treatments.

Q. Can you have liposuction on the neck/lower jaw area?? Would also like an approximation of cost for each procedure if it is possible to do?

Q. Mr Ion, You,ve been recommended to myself by a lady at work who had a fat removal procedure performed by yourself using laser treatments as opposed to liposculpture though I didn,t here it from herself she said you could effectively do a tummy tuck using lipo is this correct.

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   Laser assisted liposuction is in my experience more suitable for the treatment of small fatty tissue deposits.   A technology that has been contributing in my experience a significant amount of tightening associated with the volume reduction is the radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (Bodytite). A. Thank you for your enquiry. Smartlipo or laser assisted liposuction is one of the three groups of energy assisted liposuction techniques which encompasses: – laser assisted liposuction – ultrasound assisted liposuction, which includes VASER Liposelection – radio-frequency assisted liposuction (Bodytite) Depending on the area that you would like to treat, one of the three techniques may be best suited to deliver the results.  In general terms, I think that Smartlipo is useful for small contouring areas like a face and chin, whereas Bodytite and VASER would be more suitable for larger contouring. One additional advantage of Smartlipo and Bodytite is related to the increased ability to tighten the tissues after the treatment.

Q. Which liposuction procedure do you consider to be the safest as far as having to worry about fewer complications that might be caused by excising and suctioning out unwanted fat cells, and are all liposuctions being done currently used laser assisted liposuction or some form of laser to perform the liposuction?

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   Apart from the classical suction-assisted liposuction there are 2 additional categories:   – power-assisted liposuction, which effectively means that the machine will do some of the reciprocating movement similar to what the surgeon does during standard liposuction   – Energy-assisted liposuction techniques which include:   – ultrasound assisted liposuction, like the VASER liposelection   – laser assisted liposuction   – radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (Bodytite)   They are all safe techniques but require careful operator intervention.   Laser assisted liposuction I find to be more suitable for smaller corrections, and for larger treatments I find that the radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (Bodytite) has the advantage of providing some tightening in the tissues as well as a smooth contour.

Q. I do not like the way my arms look with too much loose wrinkly skin and I am considering having an arm lift done. However, I am worried about doing things and getting up and about after the surgery. Will I be able to do any lifting, or driving about and looking after myself after the surgery? I do not have a partner and I live alone and have a disabled son who needs my help. We do have other help that can come in while i recover but this adds to the expense. Kind Regards

There are two ways to tighten skin of upper arms: 1) Laser Assisted Liposuction/ SmartLipo 2) Upper arm reduction- Brachioplasty I perform laserlipolysis as a day case. It is a patient friendly procedure with minimal down time and does not restrict your daily activities. It is useful for tightening mild to moderate lose skin of upper arm. It does not give good result if upper arm skin is significantly loose. It involves minimal scarring. The second procedure is known as Upper arm reduction assisted with liposuction: I perform this procedure under local anaesthetic and sedation as a day case. It involves liposuction and removal of lose skin. It involves scarring in the armpit or on the inner aspect of back of upper arm. Q. How much is the average cost of liposuction for hip stomach and thigh? I am 28 years old and exercise like mad eat a very good diet is it possible for me to have this surgery? How long is the recovery period and how much time off work is recommended?

A. For that many areas, it’s probably going to cost around £5000. You should also remember that the more areas we do, the less we can do per area, as there is a maximum amount we can remove. The most we take out in one session is 3 litres and if you want this done in 3 areas, then that’s only 1 litre per area
