Am interested in getting rid of the slack skin in lower abdomen caused by having kids

Q. Hi Am interested in getting rid of the slack skin in lower abdomen caused by having kids. I am usually quite fit but cannot shift this using diet and exercise due to the skin being stretched. Will Body lipo work at also tightening the skin up after some of the fat is removed and how soon will I be able to exercise again? Kind Regards

A. If you have loose skin, liposuction will make it worse. I would suggest a consultation with an accredited plastic surgeon for an iunbiased opinion (see www.baaps.org)

Please can you share your expert views and opinions on normal gynecomastia operations and the newer VASER techniques?

Q. Please can you share your expert views and opinions on normal gynecomastia operations and the newer VASER techniques? Everything I read points me to the more modern technique however if this is the case why is traditional liposuction still used? How can I check if a Surgeon or clinic has proven successful experience in this field? Lastly is there an operation to reduce the size of the male nipple?

A. Thank you for your email. Any form of conventional liposuction can be used for correction of gynacomastia and if performed by an experienced plastic surgeon , it can provide satisfactory outcome. There are more than one new techniques used for liposuction. Selection of technique is a matter of surgeon’s choice. The best thing for you to have more than one surgeon’s opinion by having an initial consultation. You should check surgeon’s qualification. Nipple reduction can be combined with gynacomastia procedure.   I have following suggestions to help you further: 1) Please send me good quality photos for total my initial comments. 2) You may wish to arrange a detailed consultation to allow me to examine you and give my opinion. 3) Please visit our website: www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com  to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure. How much will it cost for a chin implant or cheek

Q. How much will it cost for a chin implant or cheek implant? im 34 and my face is too thin. Even when i put weight on my body my face shape remains thin. i want a fuller face. will any of these procedures help? this is v important to me. thanking you in advance for a prompt reply

A. I think you could benefit for microfatgrafting to the face , cheecks and chin. With liposuction techniques, I harvest your own fat and inject it under the skin to give volume to the face. This can be done under local anaesthetic as a day case. Recovery is about one week. The cost is abourt £900. The result lasts for years but a touch up is sometimes needed. You are welcome to arrange a consultation to discuss the procedure. Tel 01977664258RegardsLeRoux Fourie

I have some pockets of fat on my tummy that i would love to get rid of with lipo

Q. Hello im 34 and weigh 9.4 stone and am 5ft 6. I have some pockets of fat on my tummy that i would love to get rid of with lipo but am worried about being left with loose skin. What are the risks of this happening?

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it does sounds as if you maybe suitable for liposuction to remove the pockets of fatty tissue in your tummy.  If you are relatively young your likely to have good skin elasticity and your should contract after the liposuction quiet well.  The amount that the skin contract does depend on your skin type slightl and I think it would be best to schedule a consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss the best way forward for you. You should also be able to find lots of information about liposuction on our new website http://aurora-clinics.co.uk. If you feel you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss the best way forward for you. Pleas do so by ringing us on 01844-214362.  Best Wishes, Yours Sincerely, Adrian Richards Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeon Medical Director, Aurora-Clinics

I am a 25 yr old male. I used to weigh 128 Kg about

Q. Hi, I am a 25 yr old male. I used to weigh 128 Kg about 18 months ago. I now weigh 114 Kg and I am 5’7” tall. However my weight loss slowed down about 5 months ago. About 2 months ago I embarked on a strict diet and exercise routine, but I have large sagging fat around my chest and waist. I need to get this removed, as it is so embarrassing, no matter what I wear my features show. The problem is most clinics wont perform liposuction because I am still over weight. I really need it to boost my confidence and help me reach my goals. Can you help me please?

A. Hi there. congratulations on your weight loss. You still have a lot to lose to be a normal weight and I think the reason most clinics want you to come back after you’ve lost some more weight is that we all want you to have a safe result which is as goos as we can hope to achieve. Also, we want you to have just one procedure rather than many. Liposuction can certainly be performed, but it is not a good way of losing large amounts of fat. We can only remove relatively small amounts at a time (maximum of around 3 litres or so). This is only about 3kg. So, you’re best losing weight with diet and exercise and reserving liposuction for areas resistant to these means. Maybe surgery won’t help you achieve your goals, but it’s difficult to tell without seeing you for a consultation.

in your experience what would be the best route to remove stubborn fat around tummy, hips, back and legs?

Q. in your experience what would be the best route to take to remove stubborn fat around tummy, hips, back and legs? i am 23 and always had a lovely figure befor having children and now i cant shift the weight. im struggling to cope with my confidence around people altough my husband is very reasurring. and money is tight, so i dont have money to throw at the fads about weight loss. please help. im desperate.thank you for your time.

A. Hi there. The best way of losing a lot of weight is weight reduction through diet and exercise. For pockets of fat that are resistant to this, then liposuction can help. With liposuction, I prefer to use VASER treatments as this is a little more gentle to the surrounding tissues than standard liposuction. However, we can only remove around 3 litres at a time otherwise I don’t think it’s safe to do it. For larger areas, we can do the procedure again. For all the areas you describe, you might be best off having two sessions of VASER, so that we can maximise the result, but of course there is a financial impact in having two lots of the procedure. If you want information on VASER, then please call my clinic on 0141-552 0828 or have a look at the labelleforme.co.uk website for more information. The cost depends on the number of areas we treat, and the lower the number of areas, then the more we can concentrate the VASER on just a few areas to reduce a little more fat. We can discuss this at a consultation in more detail if you show me the areas you don’t like.

I would like to know if you think I would be a good candidate for a breast uplift?

Q. I would like to know if you think I would be a good candidate for a breast uplift? from an uplift. I currently have 400hp implants that have started to ripple for the second time. I am now considering having them redone and debating whether an breast uplift would also be a good idea. I am not happy with how they look and would appreciate your opinion as I am looking to try a differnt surgeon this time. Many Thanks

A. You would appreciate that it is very difficult to give an opinion withour seeing you. If your breasts are still soft and the shape is good but rippling is the main concern, microfatgrafts in the skin over the implants hide the wrinkling very well. The fat is harvested using liposuction with a very carefull technique and then injected in seperate tiny tunnels beneath the skin to thicken the skin, shape the breast and hide the wrinkling.Couls I suggest an appointment ? Please phone Lisa 01133882195 or Christine 01977664258.RegardsLeRoux Fourie

I am generally happy with my shape of my body but my problem is that I have lumpy cellulite in my lower buttock area

Q. I am generally happy with my shape of my body but my problem is that I have lumpy cellulite in my lower buttock area, which seems to have worsened with my recent weight loss. Can you tell me if liposuction is generally used for this type of problem?

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, cellulite is a difficult problem to treat and is often helped by liposuction. Liposuction generally remove the prominent areas but is not effective against cellulite. These are very long used to lose the weight and I think the sensible thing to do would be to schedule a consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss the best way forward in your case. You could schedule a consultation with one of our specialists by ringing 01844-214362 and we’ll be delighted to see you to discuss the best way forward for you. I have seen different consultants and doctors with regards to have fat removed on my inner and outer thighs

Q. Dear Mr Banwell. I have seen different consultants and doctors with regards to have fat removed on my inner and outer thighs. I have spoken to a couple of doctors who do Vaser Liposelection and a couple who do Liposuction. It seems that they each think their own procedure is the best for me and now I am very confused and in doubt which one to choose. The argument from the consultants that are pro liposuction is that it is a big area and it looks like 2 liters will have to removed and that Vaser will not be able remove that much. The doctors who do Vaser argues that it is less invasive with better recovery time and also better skin tightening afterwards. What do you think? Rgds

A. The bottom line is that the results of liposuction are dependent upon the surgeon. The hardware used (power-assisted, VASER, liposoft, smartlipo or standard machines) is probably irrelevant and just a marketing tool. If you have someone good, you would hopefully get a good result (assuming you are suitable and understand the limitations and complications) The most important thing is to check your surgeon is a surgeon (not a GP for instance) and is a fully qualified plastic surgeon. Look for the FRCS(Plast) qualification. They should also be members of BAAPS or BAPRAS. Hope this helps Best wishes Paul banwell 0845 2600 261 www.paulebanwell.com
