A. Thank you very much for your enquiry regarding face lift surgery. Generally, the recovery from a mini facelift procedure is slightly quicker than a full facelift. However, with modern techniques there is much less bruising and swelling than there has been with previous techniques and I normally advise that most people are back to social activities within 2 weeks. I tend to use a mini facelift procedure on people generally aged between 45-55 and more full facelift on people older than 55. Q. I am interested in mini facelift procedure with insignificant neck lift. But not with general anesteasia, I would prefer local anesteasia with intravenous sedation. Is this possible?

If by mini facelift you mean a short scar facelift, you need to bear in mind that this is addressing primary the face and jawline but has very limited bearing on the contour of the neck. If this is suitable for your situation, the cost related to surgery is approximately £5500, and the operation is typically performed under general anesthetic and associated with an overnight stay in hospital.

Q. Could you please let me know a rough guide to the price for the mini facelift procedure, and how long do you have to wait between consultation and the actual surgery. I am 46 and need a mini face lift I’ve smoked for many years and it shows in my face i really need your help. Would i have to stop smoking to have the operation?
A. The mini facelift procedure is usually referred to as short scar facelift, because it addresses mainly the face rather than face and neck, and is more suitable for the younger group of patients.Depending on surgeon and hospital, prices will vary roughly between £5000 and £6000.Smoking reduces oxygen supply to the skin through more than one mechanism. I always advise my patients to stop smoking at least a couple of weeks before a facelift and a month afterwards.In general, smoking leads to accelerated ageing of the skin, and becomes more noticeable after 40-45 years of age. If you are concerned about your appearance, you should think carefully about stopping smoking, not just for good general health risks, but also for your complexion.
