I am enquiring about nose-reshaping sugery/ rhinoplasty

Q. I am enquiring about nose-reshaping sugery/ rhinoplasty. I have a deviated septum which has given my nose an almost bent shape towards the left. I also have a hump on the bridge of my nose which I would like removed.

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   From your description, it appears that the surgery necessary to create the balance and elegant result would be a septorhinoplasty.   It would however be necessary to see you in consultation in order to define together the target for change, and based on that to evaluate what would be the procedure involved, and the associated risks and the recovery period.   If you would like to organise a consultation, kindly contact my practice at 02074867757, and my team will be delighted to assist you.

i have booked to have a rhinoplasty opperation with Mr Marco Maraci

Q. Hi, i have booked to have a rhinoplasty opperation with Mr Marco Maraci however i have not met him yet and have read many reviews on him, but most are on non-facial surgery, would it be better to get a rhinoplasty specialist or can you reasure me about his work, do you know if he has preformed many rhinoplasty opp’s? Thanks very much for taking the time to read this and i look forward to hearing from you

A. Thank you for your inquiry.    I am afraid I am not familiar with Mr. Maraci’s work, but there are many good surgeons, whether they are labeled as rhinoplasty specialists or not.   Your decision should be based on the consultation or consultations that you had with your surgeon, and possibly on seeing some  previous results, or a discussion with past patients of his.   Some people prefer to see 2 or 3 surgeons prior to reaching a decision regarding the treatment, but this is not compulsory.

If I have a nose correction surgery to get rid of a bump on my nose

Q. If I have a nose correction surgery to get rid of a bump on my nose am I putting myself at risk since the nose is part of the upper respiratory system and the operation just might cut off my breathing while it is being performed? I have heard stories of people being unable to breathe so wanted to ask what is risk if this happening? Many thanks

A. Thank you for your enquiry. The risk of problems with breathing through the nose exists in the context of rhinoplasty.  It is fortunately very low, and more likely to happen if very large reductions take place, or when there are pre-existing nasal airway problems.

I suffered a bad injury to my face when I was a child, which left me with a bent nose with a small bump

Q. I suffered a bad injury to my face when I was a child, which left me with a bent nose with a small bump in it. Lately this has really been bothering me. How soon can I get rhinoplasty? How long will I be bruised for and what is the worst that can go wrong?

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   After rhinoplasty, I generally recommend taking 2 weeks off work, as the bruising can take a 7-10 days period to clear.   The risks are related to a rhinoplasty surgery include: – anaesthetic risks – bleeding – infection – deep vein thrombosis – discomfort and less frequent pain – problems with breathing through the nose – incomplete correction of the aesthetic concern,   and they are fortunately relatively low.   At the time of a consultation, it is possible to evaluate in more detail on a computer simulation what our your goals for change and for the final shape, and establish a detailed plan for the treatment.   In general, it is possible to accommodate a patient requiring rhinoplasty within approximately 4-6 weeks of their inquiry. If you would like to organise a consultation, he can contact my practice on 020 7486 7757, and my team will be delighted to assist you.

i want to know more about nose reshaping as im thinking of getting it done and how much the procedure will cost

Q. i want to know more about nose reshaping as im thinking of getting it done and how much the procedure will cost

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   For more information regarding rhinoplasty, you are welcome to visit the rhinoplasty section on my website at: http://www.allaboutcosmeticsurgery.co.uk/rhinoplasty   The cost related to rhinoplasty is approximately £4500, but when a smaller procedure is required only for reshaping the nasal tip, the costs are below £4000. The operation is usually performed as a general anesthetic, and is typically a day case.

If under 18, is parental permission required?

Q. If under 18, is parental permission required? I am considering a rhinoplasty and wanted to know if i have to tell me parents and my Gp i am 17.

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   In general terms, I prefer not to do aesthetic rhinoplasty surgery under the age of 18, because the face undergoes further developmental changes and this typically leads to a change in the patient’s perspectives and goals related to the surgical treatment.   I think the majority of surgeons that I know take the view that they would not perform rhinoplasty surgery under the age of 18.

I have an enormous nose and was thinking of getting my nose reshaped

Q. Hi Mr Ion I have an enormous nose and was thinking of getting my nose reshaped. Can you reduce overall size of my nose to make it fit my face better and how long will the whole process take?

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   For more information regarding rhinoplasty, you are welcome to visit the rhinoplasty section on my website at: http://www.allaboutcosmeticsurgery.co.uk/rhinoplasty   Reduction rhinoplasty is one of the more common types of interventions, and the degree of change can be quite significant, but to some extent may be limited by the skin type on the tip of the nose. The thicker the skin, the more difficult it is to operate a substantial reduction.   It usually takes 2 weeks for return to work after a rhinoplasty procedure, but will take approximately a year for the result to stabilise. However, even at 2 weeks, the appearance of the nose is usually quite normal, except it does not represent the end result.   The cost related to rhinoplasty is approximately £4500, but when a smaller procedure is required only for reshaping the nasal tip, the costs are below £4000. The operation is usually performed as a general anesthetic, and is typically a day case.

What would the cost be for rhinoplasty nose surgery and what are the risks?

Q. What would the cost be for rhinoplasty nose surgery and what are risks of procedure, and is it possible to remain in the hospital for the entire recovery period in case something goes wrong?

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   The costs related to rhinoplasty surgery are approximately £4800 for a day case operation, and just over £5000 when the patient prefers to stay in hospital overnight.   It is truly unnecessary to stay in the hospital for longer than that, and I am sure you would find it is the case, as between 4 and 6 hours after the surgery, you are more likely to feel like going home anyway.
