I had pinnaplasty in 2005 when I was 15 through the NHS

Filed under: Expert Answers,Mr Lucian Ion,Otoplasty — Tags: aimed at creating the fold of cartilage, anterior scoring for the ear cartilage, pinnaplasty — admin @ 10:20 am

Q. Hello, I had pinnaplasty in 2005 when I was 15 through the NHS. I have never been happy with the results because one ear looks completely normal, but the other one has a strange looking ridge at the back of the ear and looks and feels really constricted and pinned back. Both ears look completely different especially in photographs. I went to see my doctor recently who tried to get me an appointment to see a surgeon but I later got a letter saying the nhs would not fund this. I have tried to look up similar cases on the internet but have not found any cases that look similar to mine. Therefore I do not really know what is actually wrong with my ear and would be really grateful to find out what is wrong and what can be done about it. I would be really grateful if you could have a look at some photos, however I will be grateful for any information you could give me. Thank you for the help.

A. Thank you for your enquiry.   From description, it appears that on one side, after a procedure called anterior scoring for the ear cartilage, which is aimed at creating the fold of cartilage situated in front of the rim, a discrepancy in the position of the cartilage edges has occurred.   It is possible to reset things to some extent, with only moderate return of the prominence of the ear, but this should be adequate.   There is not much point to send me photographs as the only confirmation I can offer would be in the case where I can palpate the cartilage, during a consultation.

Im looking to have my ears corrected and also ear lobe reduction

Filed under: Expert Answers,Mr Lucian Ion,Otoplasty — Tags: minor ear correction costs, minor ear correction prices, Otoplasty, Otoplasty costs, pinnaplasty, pinnaplasty Mr. Adrian Richards — admin @ 10:58 am

Q. Im looking to have my ears corrected and also ear lobe reduction, however i must point out that i had octoplasty surgery 5yrs ago and was not happy with the final results as 1 of my ears still protrudes. Therefore i was wondering if its possible to have the same operation again and if there would be any complications?

A. Thank you for your enquiry. It is indeed possible to have a repeat otoplasty, and of the risk of complications is similar to the first intervention. The more common, and fortunately relatively rare risks related to otoplasty include: Anaesthetic risks Bleeding Infection Pain and discomfort A degree of asymmetry Inflammation in the cartilage of the year (chondritis) Wound healing problems Keloid scar behind the ear

I have one ear that sticks out, the other appears as most would say “Normal”

Filed under: Expert Answers,Mr Adrian Richards,Otoplasty — Tags: costs for ear surgery, Ear correction, ear surgery, ear surgery costs, ear surgery prices, Otoplasty, pinnaplasty, surgery costs — admin @ 1:02 am

Q. I have one ear that sticks out, the other appears as most would say “Normal”, is it easy to get them to match? Do you have to pay the same for one ear as it would for the pair? I was set to have the operation when I was 12 but chickened out, but have felt the lack of confidence over the years with how I style my hair and which way my head is facing in photo’s increasingly getting me down and would really like to make the changes now. Although Photoshop, works but it’s not as permanent as surgery.

A. Hi Thank you for your recent enquiry.I believe that you would benefit from a pinnaplasty (Ear Correction) procedure. You can read up more on this procedure by pasting the following link into your browser:-http://www.aurora-clinics.co.uk/treatments_face_ear.htmlFurther navigation around the site will give you additional information on pricing, recovery times and informative videos.Should you wish to book a free consultation with me please call my offices on 01844 214362.With best wishesAdrian RichardsConsultant Plastic Surgeonwww.aurora-clinics.co.uk

The tips of my ears stick out a bit and is quite noticeable

Filed under: Expert Answers,Mr Lucian Ion,Otoplasty — Tags: cost of ear pinning, ear pinning costs, ear pinning prices, ear surgery, ear surgery costs, ear surgery Mr. Lucian Ion, ear surgery prices, Otoplasty, Otoplasty costs, otoplasty Mr. Lucian Ion, Otoplasty prices, Otoplasty pricesa, otoplasty procedure, pinnaplasty, pinnaplasty procedure, price of ear pinning — admin @ 12:52 pm

Q. The tips of my ears stick out a bit and is quite noticeable and it annoys me every time i look in the mirror and wanted to know how much would a procedure cost to pin them back and is there a long waiting list?

A. Thank you for your inquiry. For a pinnaplasty or otoplasty procedure, the costs are in the area of £2200, as a local anesthetic, day case operation. The procedure lends itself to a relatively short time in the operating theater, and therefore would be easier to fit in, even on the moderately short notice.

A. Thank you for your enquiry. The prices for all our procedures are on our website http://www.aurora-clibnics.co.ukSurgery is normally done as a day case and you will be able to go home on the evening of surgery.  I generally advise people to take 5 days off following the operation as you will have a bandage on during this time.If you would like to arrange an appointment to discuss which treatment would be best for you please ring 01844 214362.Alternatively if you send photos to info@aurora-clinics.co.uk I would be happy to give you my opinion on which treatment would be most appropiate for you.
