Q. Hi, I have a deviated septum from an accident 22 years ago. The base of the septum is deviated to my left. Could you give me a rough indication of price for a procedure to correct this? I am not looking for any rhinoplasty, just the septoplasty to have to have thing straightend

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   I would need to evaluate whether a septoplasty carried out in isolation would have a reasonable chance of success. Septal deviation after trauma can lead to complex fractures of the quadrangular cartilage which forms in the front of the nasal septum.   In a situation like this, a simple septoplasty is not likely to correct the problem.

Q. I had an NHS rhinoplasty last year to correct a break. However the swelling stretched the skin under my eyes, one more than another, and I wanted to know if there was a procedure to correct a limited amount of papery, baggy skin. I am 31.

A. Thank you for your enquiry. In some instances, a small correction of this type can be achieved with simple skin treatment like a chemical peel or laser. You would need to discuss this concern in consultation with the plastic surgeon of your choice, as it is difficult to be sure regarding the degree of the problem without seeing it.

Q. Is alar graft cheaper then revision rhinoplasty when done seperately?

A. Thank you for your enquiry. In principle yes, but it would be important to understand your goals regarding the surgery.  This determines the extent of surgery required and with it the associated costs.

Q. I have major nostril flare on each sides of my nose. And have been told that ear cartilage graft would get rid of this? And is it visible?

A. Thank you for your enquiry. It is indeed one of the recognized techniques for improvement of the contour of the nostrils when there is nostril rim retraction . The operation is carried out on the inside of the nostril and should not leave marks on the outside.  It is unlikely that complete symmetry will be achievable, but both sides can be corrected.

Q. How long do i have to wait to get my nose reset? it was broken years ago and i have never had the confidence to go and get it sorted but i really want it done now. how much would it cost me?

Q. Hi I have had revision rhinoplasty carried out in jan 09, i am extremely unhappy with the result! i regret having changed my nose in the first place as it looks worse than it did originally! is it possible to undergo reconstruction to achieve the shape of my original nose ( minus the hump), i’d be so greatful for your help, thankyou…..

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   The most important element at this point is to establish a clear plan for what you would like to see. It is possible to use computer simulation to identify the elements that needs to be changed and how they would assemble in the final shape.   It is also important to be realistic about what can be achieved through surgery, as the result of the operation would always be different from the computer imaging.   I would be happy to see you in consultation and discuss your concerns.

Q. Does getting a non surgical nose job hurt because i just want a snall nose?

Q. I am an African woman who would like to have rhinoplasty but am scared that my nose would be made pointy/too narrow and therefore not in line with my African features. What can I do?

A. It is possible to define with a computer simulation the degree of change that you seek, and avoid miscommunication with the surgeon. Nevertheless, the result of surgery will be somewhat different from the simulation.
