Q. I am a 53 year old female with enough upper arm sag to feel extremely self-conscious when its is showing. It is seriously affecting my confidence and I feel it limits what clothes I can wear. I have enquired with one surgeon and was advised the scarring from brachioplasty would be too much and it would not be worth it. Im not overweight and the sagging skin is not due to any dramatic weight loss I just want to try to find a solution without leaving me with any massive scarring, I undertsand there is always going to be some scarring and im open to suggestions. Regards
A. acceptance of scarring is fundamental to brachioplasty surgery. Many people undergo this procedure (and it is becoming more popular) and they all accept the scarring involved I would be happy to see you to discuss in more detail. Q. 10 years ago I had a thigh lift and a buttock lift. The scars from the surgery are quite large and I also have sagging skin. I would like to firm up the area if possible so I’m able to wear shorts and bikinis as at the moment I cannot because of the scar around my buttocks. Thank you
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, I’m sorry that you do have significant scarring following your buttock and thigh lift this however can occur and widening scars after this procedure is relatively common. It would really be best to see you in person or atleast see a picture of the scars to give you opinion as to the best way forward for you now. You can send photos of the areas that concerned you to us at info@aurora-clinics.co.uk or alternatively ring us on 01844-214362 to schedule a consultation to discuss the best option for you. Many thanks for your enquiry, we do look forward to meeting you in the near future should you decide to schedule a consultation. Best Wishes, Yours sincerely Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Consultant, Aurora Clinics

Q. The skin lower half of my face has started to ever so slightly sag from the cheekbone down towards the edges of my mouth. I have only recently become concerned about this but have wanted to defined my cheekbone area. If I had dermal fillers into my cheekbones would this also have an effect on the sagging skin as well?
A. The answer is partly but it sounds as though you may actually need a facelift. I would need to have a good look to decide though. I would be delighted to see you so please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0845 2600 261 to arrange a convenient time. Q. I had gastric bypass surgery over year ago and now have a lot of loose and sagging skin in my stomach area. I am on a daily exercise routine which includes ab crunches and sit ups, but I have not been able to tighten this unsightly skin. My doctor said that I might want to consult a plastic surgeon about having a tummy tuck. Is this a very intense procedure? I am wandering how much pain is involved and how extended the time of recovery is.
A. Thank you for your enquiry Unfortunately exercising your tummy muscles will not help tighten up the skin of your tummy. Your doctor is right that the only way to remove this skin is with a tummy tuck operation. With the Full Tummy Tuck, the abdominal skin is pulled far downward that it is needed to reposition the belly button to keep it in the center. This procedure results in a circular scar around the belly button and a dramatic improvement in the contour and shape and the abdomen. With this procedure, it is also possible to tighten the muscles of the upper and lower abdomen. With a Mini Tummy Tuck, it is a smaller surgical procedure designed to improve the contour and shape of the lower abdomen, just below the bellow button. It is good for patients who have excess fat on the lower abdomen or scars from previous surgical procedures (C-section). Tightening the muscles is possible, but only below the belly button. It might be useful to visit our website aurora-clinics.co.uk. On it you will find videos of me discussing the difference between full and mini-tummy tucks. You will also find videos of me performing both procedures and descriptions of what is involved by people who have had this type of surgery. For a guide price for this procedure please visit the prices section of our website aurora-clinics.co.uk. If you would like to discuss the best time for an appointment and free consultation please call our Clinic on 01844 214362 I hope to see you soon at consultation soon. Q. Are there any risks involved in having buttock implants? will there be any visible scars? how much does the procedure cost? is there a lengthy rest period after the procedure
A. Thank you for your enquiry. I am afraid I do not perform buttock implant surgery, and therefore I cannot guide you in relation to costs and risks related to it. I suggest you should contact Mr Christopher Inglefield or Mr Douglas Harrison, who are also plastic surgeons in London for more information.

Q. Hello Can you please tell me how much does it cost to have a buttock lift? I have a lot sagging skin and fat in this area and would love to have it looking great again.
A. Thank you for your enquiry. In principle, apart from a formal buttock lift (posterior body lift), there are also options of using radio-frequency assisted liposuction (Bodytite) to contour and firm up the lower part of the buttock, and the option of fat transfer to enhance the volume and shape. Ideally, at the time of a consultation it would be possible to evaluate the situation and guide you regarding the best course of action.

Q. I am interested in getting a buttock lift as i have lots of loose skin that hangs down. How long does this take and where does the scar go?
A. Thank you for your enquiry. For a buttock lifts procedure, or a posterior body lift, the scars tend to be placed from hip to hip around the back. There is also a form of buttock lift which is in essence just a reduction, and where the scar is placed in the crease under the buttock. If the amount of correction needed is moderate, it is possible that these days to use radio-frequency assisted liposuction (Bodytite), to perform a degree of volume correction as well as tightening to the area.
