Im looking for a tummy tuck after having my 3rd child 7 months ago as im left with loose skin and stretch marks

Q. Im looking for a tummy tuck after having my 3rd child 7 months ago as im left with loose skin and stretch marks.. how do i pick a surgeon who is an expert in tummy tucks as i dont want to end up with issues. i believe you are registered and have extensive qualifications so you specialize in tummy tucks. sorry im new to all of this. i also would like saline implants as im a worrier and the pip scare has totally scared me yet again, do you do saline implants and what would be the oputcome with regards to rippling etc is their a better type of saline for this. kind regards janine

A. Hi Janine. I can understand your concerns about silicone implants, and you should really be able to choose whatever implants you want to have. There are differences between saline and silicone implants in how they feel so you need to be aware of that. Also, saline implants can deflate and if they do then you need to have another operation, and that risk isn’t covered by any aftercare package, as there’s nothing we can do to prevent this. The risk is about 5% of this happening. In terms of a tummy tuck, if you do have any complications or concerns after surgery then we look after you and if I can fix anything that has gone wrong, I try and fix it. Again, there are some things you need to be aware of before the operation and I’d examine you and tell you what results you’re likely to get, where your scar is going to be and so on.

I would like some information regarding breast implants

Q. I would like some information regarding breast implants. What are the most recommended implants you use and how long is the operation and recovery time. Is there a currently a waiting list and how much is the surgery. Many thanks. Tracey

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   In most instances, in terms of the implant filler I use cohesive gel silicone implants rather than saline implants. Increasingly, I have been using also the micro-polyurethane coated silicone implants for reduced capsular contracture rate (http://www.pureimplants.co.uk/). In terms of the around or anatomical shape, the guidance can only be provided at the time of a consultation.   The recovery period is usually a week for return to work office activities, 3 weeks for return to light exercise and approximately 3-4 months for the area to settle.   For information regarding prices for the more common aesthetic surgery procedures or combinations of procedures, please visit my website at:   http://aesthetic-plastic-surgery.co.uk/about-cost-of-surgery.php   For procedures not listed there, kindly contact my practice either by telephone at:  0207 486 7757   or by email at: contact@aesthetic-plastic-surgery.co.uk   any my team will be delighted to assist you.   Kind regards   Lucian Ion, FRCS(Past) Consultant Plastic Surgeon

I would like an endoscopic breast lift with implants, could you tell me the rough cost of this and whether it is available in the UK

Q. I would like an endoscopic breast lift with implants, could you tell me the rough cost of this and whether it is available in the UK as I have only found American surgeons who perform this so far.

A. THank you for your enquiry.  Firstly, endoscopic breast lift with an implant is a marketing gimick.  Can only be done with saline implants which are not the best implants to use.A good test for you to do woul dbe to put on your favorite bra – if you like the shape and size in that bra- then all you need is an uplift, which I perform with a scarless technique for mild drooping.  However, if you would like a fuller breast then you will need an implant, whether or not you need an uplift will depend on the size of the implant.  Essentially, if you completely fill out your skin with the implant, you will not need an uplift.  However, if you do not want to be too large then a smaller implant is used with an uplift, again perfomed using a scarless technique in most cases. What is teh safest and optimum for you would need to be discussed at your consultation. Please call Anne or Kirstie on 0845 009 2775 who will be deilghted to arrange your consultation for you.Best regards

Im after details of the implants that you use for breast surgery

Q. Im after details of the implants that you use for breast surgery. Are they saline or silicone and do you place them under the muscle or above?

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   In my practice, the decision regarding implants and belongs exclusively to the patient. I provide guidance but do not restrict choice.   The same applies regarding placing the implant under the muscle or above. Having said that, and I do find that I ended up placing the implants more frequently below the muscle and than above.

I am a 36 year old considering having breast implants

Q. I am a 36 year old considering having breast implants. There are a few questions I would like answering before I consider it any further…Costs and how much will the procedure cost? How long do the implants last, I have heard they only have a life of 10 years, can i have the gummy bear ones, do you use teardrop ones, do you do saline, if they go hard is it free to replace them?

A. There is a lot of information about breast implants you should know and I’ve put the information on line at http://www.labelleforme.co.uk/breast_implants.html so please have a read of that. To answer your specific questions: the implants I use are the gummy bear ones, and you can have any implant you want (saline, silicone, round, teardrop). Some implants are more expensive than others, but the prices start at £3499 and go up to just under £5000 depending on the cost of the implant. They last a lifetime but if they go hard then there’s only one manufacturer where we’ll replace them for free within 5 years. The others are only covered for one year, but are less likely to go hard in the first place.

My right breast is considerably smaller than my left one. Could my implant be leaking?

Q. Hi…i had my breast implants done in the states in 2006. All of a sudden, my right breast is considerably smaller than my left one and is also very soft and mushy. Could my implant be leaking?

A. Hi there. Sorry to hear about your implant problems. It looks as if your saline implant has deflated and you would need to have it replaced. If you know the exact make and model of implant you have, this can be ordered for you and if you know whether the implant was overfilled by a certain amount, you can have the exact same size implant inserted and filled to the right amount. If you’re not sure, then sometimes you can get better symmetry by having both implants changed. We can use either saline implants or the latest fourth generation form stable silicone implants (the gummy bear types which don’t leak). It’s obviously your choice.

Can you tell me how safe breast implants are?

Q. Can you tell me how safe breast implants are. I am have been thinking of getting them done but am worried about them leaking? What are the chances of this happening?

A. modern implants are better than ever before and nowadays we only use “cohesive” gel implants. That means you can cut our implants in half and they just won’t leak silicone. As we gain more and more knowledge about silicone implants we can improve them. You also have several choices – there are saline implants (but they feel like a bag of water inside of you) and you can have the “form stable cohesive gel” implants which are a little more expensive and firmer, but they have no chance of leaking. So, all silicone implants that I use are now cohesive gel implants, but some implants are firmer than others, and you can have a choice for what fits best with your hopes and concerns
