Q. I have smoked all of my life and I am proud to say that I finally quit last year. However, my skin was left looking in a bad way. I am very wrinkled and look about 20 years older than I rightfully should. Can microdermabrasion or chemical peels etc help with the wrinkles and make me look younger? I don’t really fancy surgery at the minute?
A. Congratulations on giving up smoking. There’s a lot we can do to iron out some of the skin changes that we see with smoking. Things like chemical peels, laser, skin care products, dermaroller and so on are all worth investigating. If you want to have a consultation with me, please give us a call and we can talk about your options in details, and come up with a treatment plan for you

Q. My wife has very bad dark circles round both eyes. This has been due to lack of sleep in her early years. Please advice best treatment so as to discuss this condition further
A. dark circles are very difficult to get rid of, and the treatment is often cream, lotions and other skin care products to take the edge off the dark lines rather than a treatment to eliminate them completely. You could talk to one of the practitioners that work at my clinic for more advice, though I suspect they would want to see your wife before advising treatments.

Q. I am writing to enquire about the above procedure. I have dark circles underneath my eyes and this has caused me years of confidence problems. I am at a stage in my life now where I can`t take another question such as have you been fighting? Will this procedure help my problem and so can you help and if so how much is it likely to cost?
A. Thank you for your inquiry. There are two main approaches to improving the circles under the eyes, when there is also a depression in the area. They involve either using injectable fillers [hyaluronic acid], or fat transfer. The aim of either procedure is to enhance the volume so that there is less shadow forming and therefore less visibility for the circles under the eyes. If the problem is purely related to the colour, it is more difficult to tackle, but sometimes skin bleaching creams may help. In principle, it is better to assess the concerns in the consultation, in order to understand the exact nature of the problem, and provide suitable advice.

Q. Hello Looking into the likely charges, qualifications etc for treatment of my smile lines, crows feet, forehead lines and cheeks sorted out using juvederm or restylane/perlane etc? Can you do all these on one go. Do i get a discount for having it all done?
A. Thank you for your enquiry. In general terms, for the forehead line and crows feet area I prefer using the wrinkle relaxing injections, rather than fillers. I do find that fillers are potentially beneficial for highlighting the cheek volume, correcting the deeper lines around the nose and corner of the mouth, reshaping the lips. It is possible to combine treatment to these areas in one sitting, but unfortunately injectable treatments do not lend themselves to reductions in the related to multiple procedures, primarily due to the high cost of the materials used.

Q. im a 29 year old female and recently i have found out i have a b12 deficiency and am in injections every 3 months for the rest of my life… over the past year i have noticed really dark circles around my eyes and at a close look in the mirror the skin below my eyes is really loose and to me there seems to be too much of it.i am only young and im hoping this is to be the solution to my problem
A. Thank you for your enquiry. It is unlikely that at the age of 29 you have loose skin under your eyes, but visibility of the tear trough (dark circles under the eyes) as well as eyelid bags is not so rare. I would first suggest considering the option of adding some volume to the midface and tear trough using some of your own body fat, which can help the overall facial shape and masks to a great extent the visibility of the circles under the eyes. A more limited procedure would be to use injectable fillers like hyaluronic acid to the tear trough again to add some volume and improve the contour. It is possible to use 3-D imaging and simulation to help you understand the mechanics of change, and allow for a decision in this matter.

Q. I am starting to show my age and am 30 soon so now is time to start with treatments of a more drastic nature. What is the cost for wrinkle injections with the areas of focus my upper lips and around my nose? Is it common at my age to be needing these?
A. Thank you for your e mail. Non surgical treatments can certainly start from your age and they vary fro mild skin peels and skin products to wrinkle reducing injections and Dermal fillers to add volume to the skin. These treatments start from £300 and the cost is discussed prior to any treatments taking place. For a free consultation with one of our Aesthetic Nurse practioners please contact us on 01844 214362.
