Q. Ive had 2 courses of skin resurfacing / chemical peels which cost £200 each, but have not noticed any improvement in my skin. Is there any better treatments for facial lines and somethingthat will firm my skin as well?
A. Thank you for your enquiry. Deeper chemical peels are likely to create more tightening effect, but they do end up more expensive and have a longer healing period. Laser treatments are also an option, and these days most of the time they involve fractionated delivery, so that the healing is shorter and the risk of side-effects decreases.

Q. I have several deep wrinkles around the side of my mouth treated with laser skin resurfacing. A friend of mine had the treatment for a similar thing and when I saw her after surgery she looked great. She had the surgery in London but im keen not to travel to far from my family and wondered if you supply the treatment in your Glasgow clinic or know of another surgeon that does this procedure in the Glasgow area?
A. Hi – we do have a laser skin resurfacing service at my clinic. The procedure takes about an hour, sometimes it needs to be repeated, the recovery takes a few weeks and during the first couple of days there’s some pain and swelling associated with the treatment. However, what I can say is that there are a couple of ways of treating acne scars – one is with Dermaroller at £200 and one is with laser resurfacing at £1000. Dermaroller is done by Fiona, my nurse, and laser treatment is performed by Amanda, my laser specialist. Q. Can you tell me if you can do fat transplant to my face as i don’t really want any fillers and would prefer something more natural to get rid of my wrinkles. How much does this cost?

Fat transfer surgery to the face can be done either in isolation, or enhanced with stem cells, for an increased rejuvenation effect for the skin, as well as improved stability of the volume.For a more extensive facial fat transfer procedure, the costs are close to £3000, as a day-case general anaesthetic. If stem cells enhanced treatment is contemplated, the treatment costs are closer to £7,000, as the technology is still relatively expensive.You also have the option of combining fat transfer with skin resurfacing along the lines of chemical peeling or laser, to achieve volume restoration and enhancement together with an element of skin tightening.
