Q. I would like to look into having a tummy tuck to rid myself of the loose skin that has gradually built up over the last few years. The problem is I had an umbilical hernia repair 18 months ago and im worried it could cause complications when having abdominoplasty? Would this be correct or am I worrying about nothing?
A. Hi there. If you had an umbilical hernia repaired and you would like a tummy tuck then I would like to see your operation notes before I did the procedure, since there are different ways of doing the hernia repair. I would also want to see your scar as the type of tummy tuck we can do sometimes depends on the scars you have from other surgeries. So, there usually is no problem, but we want to make sure we’re being safe. For that reason, we would want to see you for a consultation first and discuss your options together.

Q. I would also like to find out if i can have navel reconstruction from an outtie to an innie? im currently in africa but will hopefully be travellin to the uk and will like to find out how much it costs?
A. Your problem is probably related to an umbilical hernia, which sometimes can also occur after pregnancy. General surgeons usually treat this condition.

Q. I have an outie tummy button that I hate, and I want to change it to have an innie tummy button. I have heard that it can be caused by a medical complication; that it is not just cosmetic. Is there anything that can be done to fix it? I hate the way it looks.
A. Thank you for your inquiry The problem is often related to a small umbilical hernia, which can be corrected, usually by general surgeons. The best starting point is to discuss your concerns with your GP, be able to guide you
