Q. Do you offer either smart lipo or Ultrashape liposuction and what is the more effective procedure? I was just about to book to have Smart Lipo but then read about Ultrashape which was rated as the better treatment to have. I a little confused by the whole thing now hence my enqury. Thanks

Q. Hello, I would like to have vaser on my inner and outer thighs. I am very confused about the different qualified people that are available. The clinic I have been looking at has a cosmetic physician and a plastic surgeon (Riverbanks clinic) and I think they both do vaser. Would one be more qualified than the other? It seems as if there are a lot of people out there that are not surgeons and I don’t understand how they can be qualified to do vaser – is this not a surgery? Thank you for your time, Mette

A. Dear Mette, You’re right that it is quite difficult to know the qualifications of surgeons and doctors performing Vaser liposuction. Essentially, a plastic surgeon will have a Mr for their name and as all surgeons have to qualify for the FRCS examination and will change from a doctor to a Mr. This surgeons undergone rigorous training in plastic surgery and will be experienced in liposuction. Cosmetic doctors are now for more Vaser liposuction and often these are not varied experience in this procedure. However, they do not have full surgical qualifications. The most important thing is to ask your surgeon their qualifications and inquire about the number of procedures they’ve performed regularly and also ask and see before and after pictures of patients they have treated. It might also be an idea to ask to speak to their previous patient they have treated to get a testimonial as to the results. Overall however, Vaser liposuction has proved to be very safe and effective and I wish you good luck with the treatment if you do decide to proceed with it. Q. Im a male aged 33 and have been considering liposuction to my chest because of my man boobs which I find very unattractive, I would also like something done around my hips as well. I have a couple of questions about the surgery I hope you can answer. Will surgery involve alot of swelling under the arm area and around the hips? How long is it normal for someone to resume normal activites such as sport etc?

Q. I have been looking through the internet to find information on treatment for Gynaecomastia. Some sites state that Vaser treatment is safe to use for this condition and others state that this is the wrong treatment if you have glandular tissue that is needing to be removed. After speaking to a plastic surgeon last week he said that i would need fatty tissue and glandular tissue removed but he does not do Vaser treatment. Can you please end my endless trawl of the internet and tell me CAN VASER LIPOSUCTION BE USED IF YOU NEED GLANDULAR TISSUE REMOVED FOR GYNAECOMASTIA?????

A. Thank you very much for your question about whether Vaser liposuction can be used to remove glandular tissue from the breasts. The simple answer to this is no. Vaser liposuction will only remove the fatty element of the breast tissue. The glandular tissue is more solid and as such cannot be removed by any liposuction technique including Vaser. The relative proportion of fatty tissue to glandular tissue in each breast is different; and if the gynaecomastia is relatively mild without significant skin access, often Vaser or liposuction is a very effective treatment. Q. Do you find that after a pateint has male breast reduction that they need surgery again at a later date or does the treatment completely fix the problem?

This is a condition known as Gynaecomastia and unfortunately it can occur in some people even if their weight is relatively normal. The best solution to this in my opinion is normally Vaser liposuction. In this technique (ultrasound energy) is used to dissolved the fatty tissue which is then removed by liposuction. Q. Please advise the cost of bodytite procedure on the back/love handles and inner thighs

We tend to prefer Vaser liposuction techniques to tighten and reduce the prominence of these regions.
