This is an enquiry about the after effects of breast augmentation surgery
Q. This is an enquiry about the after effects of breast augmentation surgery. I have not booked to have surgery as yet but will eventually and my question refers to how long you need to wait after surgery before sitting in the sun. I have the opertunity to go abroad to a friends while I recover from surgery and if it is not going to be possible to sit in the sun I may as well stay at home. Do I need to cover up for any length of time?
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, really there’s no time limit to when you feel start sitting in the sun following breast enlargement surgery. The scar is normally placed in the fold underneath the breast and will be hidden from the sun if you are wearing a bikini or swimming costume. I do asked my patients to keep the scar supported with a brown tape for 6 weeks following surgery as this will give the best result in the long term. Generally, however I wouldn’t advice going on a holiday for 2 weeks following surgery as you need to be around in the United Kingdom so that we can assess how you are getting on. I hope this has been useful and hope we’ll be in contact with you and wish you the best of luck if you do decide to have surgery. Best Wishes, Yours sincerely Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Consultant, Aurora Clinics
