What can be done after massive amount of weight loss?
Q. Can you tell me what can be done after massive amount of weight loss? I have had a gastric band in for 6 months now and the weight has fallen off me. In total i have lost 7 stone so far and only have one or two to go before i reach my ideal weight. I am over the moon at this but did not really think about the massive amount of loose skin that would be left. My main concern is my belly and back where i seem to have acquired an apron of skins that hangs down all the way around my waist. Also my breasts have lost all the fat as well and are like empty socks so guess i would also need an implant for them. Can you tell me how much this is going to cost to put right?
A. Thank you for your enquiry. Well done for loosing all your weight.I See a number of pastients who have had gastric banding or lost weight naturally and usually as i n your case there is significant excess skin in the back and tummy.The normal treatment for this is an abdominoplasty procedure and depending on the amount of excess skin in your hip and back areas the removal of skin can extended onto your back. This will either require an extended abdominoplasty in which the scar does not quite meet in the back or a full body lift when all the tissue circumferentailly around the body is removed. This is initally performed as this is the patients main concern.As a secondary procedure the people often decide to opt for breast lifting and an removal of tissue from the inner aspect of the arm. They often have excess skin in the next are and this is often addressed in a secondary proceedure. You are quite right hat if you have lost significant volume from your breasts you may well need an implant to restore this.
