What can be done for loose skin around my knees?

Q. Please could you help I have been looking for ages? I have heard that you can have a procedure done in America to get rid of loose skin around your knees. Is this procedure available over in the UK and if so what does it entail. I lost quite a lot of weight off my thighs / legs and now feel my knees have loose skin which makes them look large and horrid.

A. Thank you for your enquiry. You are quite right that loose skin around the knees can be quite disfiguring.  In my experience this skin is normally above and on the inner aspect of the knees.  If you are of a normal weight the best way of tackling this is to physically remove the skin.  This tightens up the area but will leave a fine scar in the knee region which will fade with time.I have performed this procedure myself on a number of patients with good results.Overall, I think it would be best to contact us by phoning Cosmetic Surgery Consultants and we will be more than happy to arrange a consultation.Best WishesAdrian RichardsConsultant Plastic Surgeon
