“Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group” Seeks to Transform the Industry

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery Advertising — Tags: largest cosmetic surgery chains, plastic surgery advertisements, Transform Cosmetic Surgery, Transform Cosmetic Surgery clinic, Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group — admin @ 10:47 am

Cindy Simmons, the new head of Marketing for one of the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery chains has hit the industry with a bold new marketing campaign aimed at bringing plastic surgery advertisements into the everyday magazines and televisions of the average household.

Capitalizing on the wide spread popularity and acceptability of cosmetic surgery today, Simmons seeks to pioneer the spread of the industry to the middle classes through an ambitious advertising blitz.

Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group is the leading plastic surgery provider in the UK performing more than 860 procedures per month. Simmons would like to see that number climb by changing the public’s perceptions of cosmetic surgery and marketing the procedures as just another part of the beauty business. By placing surgical procedures on the same level as the latest lipstick, new hairstyle, or low rise jeans, Simmons is pushing to see her procedures advertised right next to the perfume ads in the world’s biggest fashion magazines.

She states that her push to see Transform considered right alongside an ad for Estee Lauder or Gucci is “A measure of our investment in the new marketing and the increasing acceptability of cosmetic procedures.” Though a media campaign is Simmons’ special project, Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group also credits their popularity to the availability of clinic financing in the form of interest free loans for surgical procedures. Not content with only knives, the doctors at Transform are also adept at non-surgical procedures such as botox injections, skin peels, cosmetic dentistry, and hair removal.

If Simmons has her way, Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group will push the industry in a whole new direction. Some are critical f her approach saying that the aggressiveness of her campaign trivializes the real dangers of surgical procedures and promotes a false image of the human body that many will go into debt to try and attain. However, Simmons is not discouraged by negative reports, but faces them squarely by flashing her best smile and becoming the new face of plastic surgery in the UK.

Cosmetic Surgeries Get Cut from the Gwent Hospital Budget

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,NHS Cosmetic Surgery — Tags: breast implants nhs, national health service cosmetic surgery, NHS, NHS Cosmetic Surgery, plastic surgery free, tummy tuck nhs — admin @ 11:36 pm

In an effort to free up operating rooms for more essential surgeries, the NHS in Wales has comprised a list of 54 treatments that are now considered low priority and can only be carried out under extreme circumstances.

This is bad news for patients eagerly awaiting a cosmetic operation since procedures such as breast augmentation, tummy tucks, hair grafting for male pattern baldness, reversal of male or female sterilization, liposuction, and even tattoo removal have been moved onto a list commonly known as INNF- Interventions Not Normally Funded. These low priority procedures are being placed on the bottom of the waiting list for time in the operating rooms and clinics of Gwent’s hospitals.

Saving money is one of the reasons the Aneurin Bevan Health Board wants to minimize the occurrence of these types of surgeries. One of the biggest reasons for this new shift in priorities is the need to free up operating space and lesson the waiting time for those in need of essential surgeries. Finances are also a big motivator.

The board assumes that if priority is given to more necessary surgeries rather than to the nearly 5,500 INNF surgeries that took place in Gwent last year, hospitals will be able to save funds by encouraging those seeking plastic surgery to go elsewhere. This rationale has been disputed by hospital directors who believe that the operating theatre will still be in use, and the money will still be pouring out, but the National Public Health Services for Wales believes this is a great solution for a financial problem.

So where does this leave Gwent residents in search of a great cosmetic procedure? There are many private clinics in the area who will perform procedures, but some at exorbitant costs.

Many Gwent residents are trying out a new trend in cosmetic surgery called “cosmetic tourism” where they travel out of the country to get the desired procedures. This is often cheaper and faster than using a local hospital, but patients are cautioned to be wary of the clinics they choose as not all countries have strict standards when it comes to cosmetic procedures.

Breast Implant Bandit Apprehended with the Merchandise

Filed under: Breast Surgery,Weird and Wonderful — Tags: Breast Implant free, Breast Implant theft, breast implants have serial numbers, liposuction performed, old silicone implants — admin @ 11:14 pm

A would be breast implant bandit was apprehended after her old silicone implants gave her away.

Yvonne Jean Pampellonne had more than eight thousand pounds (15,000.00 USD) worth of cosmetic surgery done at a clinic in Southern California and then tried to escape paying the bill. Charged with commercial burglary, grand theft, and identity theft, Pampellonne will soon regret her new look.

The thirty year old used a stolen credit card and fake identity to have her ten year old silicone implants replaced with new ones at the pacific center for Plastic Surgery in Huntington Beach, California. She also had some liposuction performed and told the clinic that her real name was Cindy Payne. When she didn’t show up for follow up visits the clinic got concerned for her welfare and tried to contact her.

They soon realized what had happened when the true owner of the credit card called inquiring about the charges. Not willing to accept the loss, the clinic did some detective work of their own. It seems that all breast implants have serial numbers. By tracing the implants Pampellonne left behind the clinic was able to locate the surgeon who did the first breast augmentation. After contacting the police, the previous surgeon was shown a photo array from which he promptly picked out Pampellone from the group.

Though Pampellone eventually surrendered to the police and was released on bail, her story is one of caution to others who in their quest for fake boobs would use a fake identity to get them. Medical implants, whether they be silicone breast implants, plates used to fix a broken leg, or artificial hearts and pacemakers, all have traceable serial numbers.

Doctors will not be easily defrauded of their fees, as Pampellone found out. Pampellone’s attorney is convinced that a jury will eventually find her not guilty of the pending charges. Let’s hope so because her desperate desire for a new appearance may earn her some time in unflattering prison clothing where the cosmetic procedures she has learned to love are no where to be found.

The Airbrushing Controversy – Are Altered Images Harming Younth?

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery Advertising — Tags: advertisements, Advertising Standards Agency, airbrushed images, airbrushed photos, Airbrushing, before and after images, clinical eating disorders, cosmetic surgery before and after, cosmetic surgery images, false body images, negative body image issues, perfect hair, perfect skin, popularity of plastic surgery — admin @ 10:30 pm

A group of experts is calling for a stricter regulations in advertising banning the use of airbrushed images in the media because of the potential harm they may cause young people dealing with negative body image issues.

Proponents of regulations want all advertisements to clearly state when an image has been artificially altered.

The organization The Liberal Democrats has started a campaign to help young people battle the problems of health issues such as clinical eating disorders, steroid use, and extreme exercising that can be brought on by a dissatisfaction with their overall body image. At the root of this campaign is the controversy over airbrushed photos in advertisements. Jo Swinson, of the Liberal Democrats told the Telegraph that she believes “Airbrushing means that women and young girls are being bombarded with images of people with perfect skin, perfect hair and perfect figures which are impossible to live up to.”

The Liberal Democrats would not only like to see disclaimers added to airbrushed photos, but they would like a total ban on all airbrushed advertisements aimed at young people under sixteen years old. They also see the increase in the popularity of plastic surgery as an issue and would like to require cosmetic surgery advertisements to list their success rates.

Many concerned parents and watchdog groups fault the airbrushed photos in fashion magazines with creating an unrealistic view of the human body. Advocacy groups are calling on the Advertising Standards Agency to get involved and require notification on each airbrushed image used in the media. Some experts are concerned that the constant bombardment of false body images to young people will negate the positive effects of the surge in schools offering diverse exercise options to young people such as yoga, dance, and aerobics.
