Cosmetic Surgery to Become an Animal: “Personal Statement” Evolution, Entropy, or Other?

From Queen Elizabeth I’s face painting with lead-based paint, feet binding in the Orient, Bursi women and Thai hill women stretching lips and earlobes, corsets, high heels, breast augmentation, liposuction and Botox injections, tattoos, implants, and piercings, society throughout the centuries has been engrossed in both conformity and separatism. Generation X, Generation Y, then Generation ME, what’s next? Is society heading toward “personal statement nirvana” or did someone lose the keys to the sanity zoo? Lizards, large cats, snakes, and more, gaining in popularity is cosmetic surgery to become an animal.

The Leopard Man
Tom Leopard shunned most human contact in 1987, tattooed 99.2% of his body in leopard-patterned spots, removed some teeth while filing others into fangs, and sequestered himself on a small island off the coast of Scotland. Why? He wanted to live a simple life. Fortunately, he does clothe himself when he shops for food every two weeks and has a pint or two in the local pub.

The Catman or Tigerman
Dennis Avner really loves tigers. He really, really loves tigers. He loves them to the point that he’s undergone permanent, irrevocable body modifications to resemble one: lip clefted, nose flattened, septum relocated, ears pointed, transdermal implanted in the eyebrow ridge and and cheekbones, forehead pierced to simulate whiskers, earlobes elongated, cheeks and chin injected with silicon, teeth removed, and others filed and elongated. He’s had tiger striping tattooed all over his body. What are his future plans? He wants additional transdermal implants on his skull as mounting base for tiger-type ears.

The Lizard Man
Erik Sprague, born in Fort Campbell, KY, has transformed as much as himself into a lizard creature as possible with today’s science: 100% body tattoo, tongue bifurcation or tongue splitting, sub-dermal implants along his eyebrows to resemble the horned ridge found in many lizards. Scale tattoo patterns could certainly alleviate the need to purchase moisturizing lotions, one might think.

Expenses Involved
Depending on the method used, the size and complexity of body art as well as the skill level of the tattoo artist, the cost of body art can range from a few dollars to several hundred. Add to that the implants often done by tattoo artists, too, and the piercings, the cost of cosmetic surgery might seem secondary.

However, if they want to spend their money on “transformation,” I have a retirement fund that could use a little more padding. They can “transform” it into something much larger! After all, at least two of the three profit from their cosmetic transformation.

Tom Leopard changed his spots before withdrawing from the world and now lives on approximately $500 per month.

Dennis Avner holds an office job and receives guest appearance fees on television and radio shows as well as public appearance considerations for events and openings.

Erik Sprague earns his living as a sideshow performer and also receives guest remunerations.

Nurture or Nature?
“Go along to get along.” “Don’t rock the boat.” “What will others think of you?” All are little homilies that everyone has heard over and over. Most people comply, feeling the “pull of the pack,” but when individuality whiplashes to the opposite end of the spectrum—separating oneself from the pack by extreme measures, what does that say about not only the individual but also of society as a whole?

Is it truly individualism or is it craving for attention, creating a separate pack environment?

Conclusion
Personally, I don’t care. Just leave me out of it! Admiring an animal is great, but buying some posters and a stuffed toy would suffice, wouldn’t it? But then again, money may be the greater motivation than personal expression—unless it’s joyfully expressing en route to the bank Barnum’s famous line, “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

Largest Lips in the World

World’s Biggest Lips

If there were a contest for the world’s biggest lips, celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, and Mick Jagger would probably come to mind as contenders. Unfortunately, they would all lose. There is a good chance that they would not even end up on the Top 10 list for the world’s biggest lips. They might have some of the best and sexiest lips on the planet, but definitely not the biggest. So the question is, who does have the biggest lips? Let’s have our own Top 3.

3. If you type in the phrase “biggest lips” in to the YouTube search engine it will bring up several interesting videos. One of those videos is called Scary Video Big Lips and features a man that has rather large lips. He takes some sort of fruit and places it in his mouth sideways with ease. Right after he removes the fruit, he proceeds to stretch out his lips and nearly covers his entire face with them. This is shocking and amazing all at the same time.

2. Another video on YouTube simply called Big Lips stars an older gentleman that looks like he should be sitting on the balcony at the Muppet Show. The video quality is grainy, so it is not clear whether the man has teeth or not. What he does have are large lips and a matching large tongue. After sticking out his tongue for the world to see, he takes his bottom lip, pulls it up, and hooks it over his nose. I think I saw something like this on an episode of Family Guy once.

1. The number one spot for the world’s biggest lips actually goes to the world. That’s right, the Earth has the biggest lips out there, and they can be seen from space. There is a spot in the African desert, where the foundation of the Earth has made a landmark that looks like a giant pair of lips when looking down on it from space. This remarkable feature measures one kilometer wide. Those are some pretty huge lips. Angelina Jolie has got nothing on those, despite her best efforts.

There’s the list for the world’s biggest lips. It ranges from the bizarre to the impressive to the fantastical and beyond even that. This is not an exclusive list, and there are probably some really shy big-lipped people out there that hide from cameras. Whatever the case, as long as there is something that sparks someone’s interest there are going to be lists like this.

Weird Hair Issues

Most of us would probably admit having done something “dramatic” to our hair… dying it purple as an identity statement in the ninth grade, chopping it off to get that fresh start you craved after he broke your heart, maybe even shaving your eyebrows just to see if it looked good. Chances are pretty good we’ve never taken “dramatic” to the lengths that these people do, though. Read on for our top 4 Weird Hair Issues from around the globe.

4. Pubic Hair Transplants
Ever thought of your down-there hair as a sign of fertility? Women in South Korea have, and for some, having too little of it is embarrassing. The solution: transplants. No, not from donors, thankfully, but from the recipient’s own scalp line. A sliver of skin is removed from the hairline along the neck and separated into pieces that contain 1-3 hair bulbs each. A laser or scalpel is implemented to make room for the tiny chunks of much-desired pili (the fancy scientific name for hair) in the desired location. The transplanted hairs are arranged in such a way as to be consistent with the pattern of typical pubic hair. With much repetition, this procedure — called micrografting — can produce quite successful results. Meaning: being pube-less doesn’t have to scar you for life. A few cuts and burns later, you can compare parts with Sasquatch and come out a winner. Ew.

3. Eyebrow Transplants
It’s not so surprising that there’s a market for this, is it? We’d expect someone who’s lost their eyebrows to disease or disastrous accident to feel a twinge of discomfort about it. They’re on your face, and… well, what more needs to be said? These make it to the list because of how tricky they end up being. Eyebrows, if you have noticed, are not quite like scalp hair… or leg hair… or pubic hair, for that matter. (Although that would make a good one for another list — eyebrows transplanted from the nether-regions. Interesting.) Scalp hair can be used, but it must be done very carefully. The transplanted hair must be placed flat back against the browline rather than at about a 45 degree angle, like it was “back home” on your head. The holes needed to make room for the new hair must be tiny, since only one hair may be placed at a time. These must be made with a fine needle rather than a scalpel. All that to say, it takes some skill to do this. Don’t let some back-alley quack try it on you, or you may end up with a little stranger over-eye growth than you bargained for.

2. Longest Ear Hair Ever
The guy that made the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest ear hair ever recorded. Everyone wants to be known for something. But did it really have to be this, Grandpa? Maybe you could have written a book instead. Oh, well. It’s still pretty cool!

1. Hairboy – China’s Aspiring Rockstar
This takes publicity stunts to a whole new level. Exploiting your body hair to get a recording label? It’s true, Yu Zhenhuan is trying to get noticed for his body hair, and musical talent too. He even has his own personal space on the Web called MaoHai, which translates to “hairboy”. There, he has posted pictures of himself. Apparently he has a condition which causes dark hair to grow over his entire body, with the exception of his hands and feet. That’s definitely different enough to get “discovered”. Will it do anything for his music? Who knows.

Seven Cosmetic Surgery Myths Debunked

In this era of information overload and hyper-consciousness about appearance, it is getting increasingly difficult to separate fact from fiction, reality from myth. In light of the lightning-fast pace of our modern lives, it becomes all the more important to make every attempt to be an informed and educated consumer, particularly if you are considering taking a step as significant as obtaining cosmetic surgery. To this end, here are seven of the most commonly held misconceptions about cosmetic therapy, along with the real truth.

Myth: plastic surgery leaves no scars.

Fact: all cosmetic operations result in scarring of some kind. However, a skilled surgeon will make incisions in directions and in places designed to minimize their visibility. Endoscopic procedures such as breast augmentations, forehead lifts and tummy tucks result in especially minimal scarring.

Myth: liposuction is for losing weight.

Fact: while this procedure may result in moderate dropping of pounds, its true goal is to help you get rid of pockets of fat that cannot be removed by conventional strategies such as diet and exercise. When asked who would be the best candidates for liposuction procedures, most physicians will say that the surgery is most effective for people who wish to sculpt their abdomens, hips, backsides, neck, or cheeks, with weight loss being only a secondary benefit.

Myth: fat comes back after liposuction.

Fact: by the time you are born, your body has produced the total amount of fat cells you will ever have. As you gain weight, the cells in certain places such as your thighs become larger. When liposuction is performed, a significant portion of these cells is removed from the targeted area. They will never return again.

Myth: you can tell when someone has had a facelift.

Fact: a well-done facelift is not detectable; it is only the botched ones that are readily apparent. A good surgeon will make sure that you do not end up displaying the three telltale signs of facelift: an unnatural tightness or pull to the face that results in a mask-like effect, improperly placed incisions that make them visible or lead to hair loss along the temporal area or along the back of the ear, and distortion in the shape of the earlobe itself.

Myth: you can’t breastfeed if you have implants.

Fact: there is no evidence to support this contention. However, some women who have implants find that they are not able to produce enough milk to feed their babies. If this proves to be the case for you, supplementation with formula is a safe and viable option.

Myth: breast implants need to be replaced every ten years.

Fact: in reality, implants need to be replaced when they start to leak. While this can sometimes occur nine or ten years after the initial augmentation procedure, most women find that their implants last far longer. Many doctors recommend that patients follow the tried and true rule, “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” when it comes to their implants. Unless you are experiencing a deflated saline or ruptured gel implant, they recommend that you leave well enough alone. The only other reason you might need to have your implant replaced before the ten-year mark occurs if you experience what is known as capsular contracture. In this complication, scar tissue forms around the implant, resulting in excessive hardening of the breast tissue and symptoms of pain that feel like cramps or contractions.

Myth: only plastic surgeons can perform cosmetic surgery.

Fact: there are no laws dictating who can and cannot conduct cosmetic surgical procedures. That is why it is vitally important that you take the time to choose the best possible surgeon. In recent years, patients have begun to take advantage of tools such as websites that furnish such information as schooling, specialties, and even the number of malpractice suits filed. Make sure to select a surgeon who is a member of ASPS, since all of these are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery to perform surgeries on the face and other parts of the body. If your in the UK you can look out for surgeons who hold FRSC (plast) are on the GMC Specialist Register and are a member of BAAPS or BAPRAS.  These physicians must many years of surgical experience, must be in the field of plastic surgery. They are also required to operate only in accredited medical facilities and to remain up to date in their knowledge of changes and innovations in their field of medical expertise.

The decisions you make about the type of cosmetic surgery you want to have and the cosmetic surgeon who will perform it will have a pivotal effect on your life and your physical appearance for years to come. That is why you should take great care in researching your procedure, choosing your doctor, and getting all of your questions answered before you agree to any cosmetic surgery. This vigilance can mean the difference between misunderstanding and dissatisfaction with the outcome and happiness with the results. You are worth the extra time and trouble this research may take, and in the end you will be glad you not only gave yourself a beautiful new look, but also a strong foundation of knowledge to back it.

The total cost of going from fat to thin

Not so long ago, before stomach stapling, gastric bands, and the amazing wonders of bariatric medicine was still termed a loony dream by most doctors, dieters had to gradually slim the hard way, while employing many sweaty hours of vigorous exercise to sculpt their bodily proportions.

Yes, the very thing that makes stomach stapling so appealing, namely amazingly rapid weight loss, produces the side effect of a very troubling amount of left over, stretched-out skin. Without the natural, agonisingly slow process of gradual weight loss and toning of the muscles, the skin doesn’t have a chance to shrink into size.

So, some 7k pound thinner in the bank account, the post-op Thinny looks something like a depressed Shar-pei. What on earth should she do? Well, there is ANOTHER operation, which will uplift the breasts and arms. There is also an ANOTHER operation that is optimistically called the “Lower Body Lift”, that nips in the thighs, buttocks, and waist. Another 7k for the upper lift and a slightly more dear 13k operation for the lower half; in total, Thinny has had to pay twenty seven thousand pounds.

No chance the NHS can pick up the bill? Thinny remembers the hearty laughter when she asked that question about the FIRST operation. Now she is really depressed, but she’s pursued the dream this far; she’s got to see it through to the bloody end.

Shar-pei Skinny is dead, long live Slim Thinny! However, poor Thinny must look some home truths square in the eye. A whole new wardrobe is a huge investment. Let’s not forget bras and knickers! Feet also lose weight, so all new shoes are in order.

Specially formulated protein “shakes” she must drink to maintain her figure cost the moon but taste like they were invented in some POW camp. She’ll need a subscription to a health club, for exercising rain or shine. They say that exercise released endorphins; Thinny’s still waiting.

Nearly forgot; there will be no more chocolates, sweets, cokes, or beer, ever. Thinny can’t maintain her figure that way. No endorphins for her. Being thin is supposed to be compensation enough…

Now Thinny is in counseling to discover why she’s not deliriously happy. Maybe some pills will help the situation.

What is the total cost of going from fat to thin? Perhaps someone good at maths would like to have a go at working that one out.

Chocolate, anyone?

The worlds grossest pimple popping

There is no doubt that when you randomly browse through videos on Youtube.com, you’re bound to find some pretty screwed up stuff. For the most part, the website provides entertainment you can watch at any time of the day, but a recent slew of rather unpleasant videos has spawned a whole new fad.

Now there are all sorts of fads on Youtube, from your standard lip sync videos to Rick Rolls, the site is jam packed with the Internet’s best memes. However one fast rising fad is one you might want to avoid while eating, or better yet, while doing anything!

This is the world of zit popping. No longer are zits, spots or pimples to be popped in the safety of your own bathroom, they are to be video taped and shown to the world! Now just like any popular topic, only the biggest and the best rise to the top, like this guy:

This faceless stranger doesn’t just have a zit on his back, he has another head growing there! Uploaded by Youtube user Initumpolo, this video sees this poor sap lying face first on a table as if he was waiting for the executioner. An unidentified woman takes what looks like a scalpel and slices the man across his zit, unleashing the floodgates of pus to pour from his wound. Now from here it’s only going to get worse. The unidentified woman then proceeds to squeeze the zit and like a jack in the box, a stream of puss flies into the air, promptly emptying the stomachs of everyone in attendance and watching around the world.

From here on out, it’s only going to get worse, just like this man found out when a lump started to appear on his wife’s lower earlobe:

Unlike the first video, this boyfriend and girlfriend duo doesn’t have a surgeon with a scalpel at hand to professionally deal with the situation. Instead they take the two must have Youtube pieces of equipment, a camera and a mirror. Again, unlike the first video, this zit is a whole different breed, it’s a slow bleeder. The pus slowly but surely oozes from the wound and seemingly ends on an anti climax as the huge zit has a tiny pop of pus jump from it. This anti climax should disturbingly leave you wanting more, at which point the female applies more pressure until it finally gives in, leaving both girlfriend, boyfriend and their mirror covered in a disgusting white puss.

Last, but not least, we have the stringy zit:

Now this fella is a complete different kettle of fish. Where the first two video’s saw huge lumps erupt in a white pus, this zit was seemingly non existent. The video starts with these two mysterious thumbs applying a ton of pressure to what looks like either someones back or leg. With curiosity you’ll continue to watch these thumbs tear into this poor defenseless piece of flesh. After around 30 seconds, a white line of puss will start to form. More pressure is added and a long white string of puss starts to emerge from this clump of flesh, like a submarine surfacing from the ocean.

Congrats to those who were able to keep their lunch inside their stomach, to those of you that couldn’t keep it down, lets hope you never wake up with a huge zit protruding from your skin! And if you do well film it upload the video and we will include it here if their is enough of a puss explosion to give these a run for thier money.

Crazy World of Cosmetic Surgery in China

It’s enough to make you wonder whether these people have ever heard of <i> inner </i> beauty. They’ve taken extreme measures to shed the looks they were born with in favor of embellished lips, straighter noses, and smaller chins. Whether they did it for fame or beauty, these people made it to our Top 6 List of crazy cosmetic surgeries in China.

6. They made her look younger, and her husband wanted them to change it back. Sixty-two-year-old Wu from the province of Chongqing in central China got cosmetic surgery in order to look younger and more attractive. The surgery was a success… too much so, according to her husband Zhang. The couple went ballroom dancing after the surgery and, to Zhang’s chagrin, Wu was suddenly a hot item among the men there. So he did what no sane man with a hot, young-looking wife should ever do… he asked for a divorce. After much persuasion from their children, the couple eventually reconciled.

5. Xiaoqing walked out on a boyfriend whose Jessica Alba fetish went way too far. Considering he’d been making her wear a blond wig and fake eyelashes anytime they went out in public, that was probably a good choice. Sadly, she later changed her mind and tried to get him back in a rather extreme way. She made the ultimate profession of obsession by getting a number of plastic surgeries that made her look like <a href=”http://www.chinahush.com/2010/01/31/chinese-girl-getting-cosmetic-surgery-to-look-like-jessica-alba-to-win-her-boyfriend-back/”>Jessica Alba’s Chinese twin</a>. A bold move, but to her credit, it did work. She got back the boy, if not her self-esteem.

4. Middle school and high school students are taking advantage of the free summer months to do something unusual for their age: recover from plastic surgery. In Guangzhou, a city in the Guangdong province of southeastern China, three hospitals report that 90% of the patients in their plastic surgery wards are middle school graduates. It apparently has become a trend for parents to finance these cosmetic surgeries in order to help their children feel more socially competent as they enter high school.

3. Imagine spending $24,100 (RMB 200,000) to have a surgeon overhaul your appearance. A 30-year-old woman in Kunming, a city in the Yunnan province of southern China, had 48 purely cosmetic operations over a five-year period. Is it possible to have 48 operations and still look anything like your old self? Probably not.

2. A 19-year-old from Changsha, Hunan, in southeastern China, would give up a kidney if he could be rich… literally. Zhou, a security guard, has placed his own kidney, testicle, and eyeball on the market because, as he says, it was the quickest way he could think of to get rich. More frighteningly, he has already received several bids.

1. The first ever “best artificial body” pageant was held in Beijing in 2004. Contestants between the ages of 17 and 62 had to present doctor-certified documentation of their cosmetic surgeries in order to participate. Feng Qian was named Miss Plastic Surgery 2004 for having had eye-widening surgery, cheek and waist liposuction, and Botox injections.

Scary Cosmetic Surgeries and Body Modifications

Going under the knife usually refers to plastic surgery which is done to enhance a persons body in a physical manor. However as technology and human behavior evolve going under the knife has expanded its meaning to any surgery which is considered medically unnecessary for living a healthy life. Although these transformations will probably not get your phone rigging on the hook for potential mates they will have people wondering how and why a person have surgery on “THAT:”

Rib Resection
Simple stated a rib resection is removing one or more ribs for a multitude of reasons ranging from cracked ribs to increased flexibility of the body. Clinically speaking rib resection are performed to protect the organs beneath the rib cage from imminent puncturing or to use a graft for repairing another part of the body. Of course people have taken the medical field to lengths in the last decade and men have had rib resections done for pleasure purposes. Although this can still be consider rumor and highly controversial sources have confirmed men have gone through with the surgery. Taking a rib out of someone’s body is highly unusual for any purpose unless you are God creating Eve.

Knuckle Surgery
Ever think my knuckles are too big and unsightly I should have them reduced? Apparently this is a rare but simple procedure for mostly women with large, boney knuckles. Doctors use a file like piece to shave down the knuckles in order to feminize them and make them smaller. Frankly it sounds incredibly painful for a small imperfection. Women watch out, your man might try to smooth your knuckles so when you punch him it is painless.

Tongue Bifurcation
The desire to change one’s body into a reptile has been struggled over for years, thankfully not, but if you would like to have a snake like tongue, tongue bifurcation is the way to go. By using a laser doctors can split the tongue at the tip down towards the middle in order to make tongue with two points. The procedure is outpatient and relatively painless but the transformation will no never change. Even though the tongue is the fastest healing body part, using a laser permanently separates the strongest muscle in the world.

Mouth Enlargement
The term “big mouth” now has new meaning when anyone can change the size of their mouth! According to a medical research journal mouth enlargement is extremely rare but can be done. Essentially doctors slice the corners of the mouth(where the top and bottom lips meet) and extend the lip to make a persons mouth larger. There have been no known medical reasons for a mouth enlargement and it is an odd surgery. It is understandable to want everything biggest, breast augmentation, but a bigger mouth is completely on unnecessary and creepy.

Bifurcated Penis
A bifurcated penis, clinically called a penis sub-incision, is when doctors slit the urethra length wise splitting the penis in two on the underside of the shaft. Unlike the pervious body modifications penis sub-incision is highly painful and if done incorrectly can be infected easily leading to death. However under the proper care the procedure is safe and done for sexual satisfaction for both the man and the woman. Their are a couple hilarious downsides to the operation including problems with urination. Most men are required to sit while urinating after the procedure due to the spray like exiting of the urine.

Revirgination: Hymen Surgery.
As the title so amply explains hymen surgery or revirgination is the revirgining of a women. Although highly controversial and not covered by most insurances, revirgining happens all over the world, illegally and legally. The process of putting a blood like fluid “packet” into the womens vaginal wall is simple and performed on an outpatient basis. Couples can do it for several reason and it is not guaranteed to burst in the first sexual intercourse. Because the packet is completely foreign to the body many doctors will have follow up appointments to insure the “packet” broke and the woman’s vaginal area is healthy. The procedure can be very expensive at around $2,000 or as little as $100 in some countries. Either way women are ignoring laws and expense to have the procedure done.

Deforming Rituals Volutary or Not

Every culture has some form of deforming ritual whether they admit it or not. Even the civilized western society still mutilates baby boys at birth without their consent. Now not all deformation is done involuntarily. Some are done with the sole purpose of standing out and being individual. The difference is that some people have a choice and some are forced by any of a number of rites of passage or cultural acceptances.

5. Circumcision. Based on ancient cultural rituals, modern day medical practices still include the removal of an infant or adolescent male’s foreskin. The basis for this mutilation originated with the religious practices. Now controversy rises due to the delicate area that the mutilation takes place. It’s being raised as a moral and ethical issue especially now that it is every day practice and note even questioned but just done at the birth of every boy.

4. Stretching. Traced back to tribes in Africa and Asia, stretching has been done for centuries. It is now a way of changing your appearance by creating a jewelry look to your skin. Some cultures still use this as a means of tribal ritual to show the maturity, status, or for the beautiful display of jewelry. Flesh tunnels and plugs are used to show off the size, expanders and tapers are used to increase the size of the hole. Health concerns with this mutilation practice are narrowed to the risk of infection.

3. Foot binding. This outrageously dangerous and debilitating deformation was only practiced in one culture that we know of. It is no longer in practice, but was not put to a halt nearly early enough. This body deforming ritual took young women and bent their feet up as to appear smaller. They were bound very tightly and left that way to grow. The result was a smaller foot and a woman who could hardly walk and sometimes not walk at all, by forced deformity done by others who found the girls feet too big.

2. Neck rings. The neck rings are still practiced in few areas today. The neck rings bring the illusion of a long and elegant neck when in fact the neck is not longer. The deformation is actually being done to the shoulders and back. The rings push down the shoulders to keep them from growing upward. The major problem with this deforming practice is that is it irreversible. They can never be taken off without support. The neck muscles are damaged and cannot support the head anymore.

1. Cranial Deformation. Cranial deformations were only done in a very small area of the world. As far as we know they are no longer done to the extent that changes the whole head. It was once thought that these people were aliens, later to find out that the shape of their heads was due to some sort of binding practice. The ritual practice is supposed to have signified affiliation or status, but nothing is known for sure today.
