Those looking for alternatives to complicated surgeries or implants to reconstruct body parts have a new option to choose from. “Lipo Modeling” is a technique whereby fat is removed from the patient’s body to be used, as grafts, in re-sculpting another area. This is a particularly welcome technique for those who have asymmetrical body features due to trauma, surgery, or even birth defects. Using fat grafting is much safer and more effective then surgery or expensive implants.

Fazel Fatah, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, performs liposuction in his personal practice. Fatah uses a newer liposuction technique that involves using a laser to melt fat beneath the skin before sucking it out. This is a much quicker and more efficient method then the simple vacuuming the fat out of the body used in traditional liposuction.

Fat grafts obtained from liposuction have been proven effective in cosmetic surgery procedures, but surgeons like Fatah have been using fat grafts for purposes of reconstructive surgery. The fat is removed by use of small syringes and thin tubing call “cannula” that suck the fat out. The fat is then placed inside a centrifuge that removes all the oil and liquid from the fat.

The fat must then be formed into thin lines comprised of multiple tiny “beads” of fat. This prevents the fat from bunching and leaving unsightly globules in whatever area is being reconstructed. Furthermore, shaping the fat into lines allow for very detailed and accurate three dimensional reconstruction. This technique has been used for cosmetic surgeries like face lifts and such, but the applications for reconstructive surgery is tremendous. In breast reconstruction, traditional methods can often leave breasts lumpy and asymmetrical. Fat grafts can be used in addition to the standard breast implants to even out the breasts and make them look natural. In other cases, patients have been born missing parts of their pectoral muscles; fat grafts are used to create the missing areas.

Lipo modeling is greatly improving the quality of life for those who have been inconvenienced or embarrassed because of cosmetic asymmetrical problems. The natural look and feel of the fat grafts give patients a new lease on life.

How many times have you considered the idea of plastic surgery, but because you were not certain as to what the end result would be pushed the idea out of you mind? While a large number of people do have plastic surgery, there is an even larger number that have considered having some type of cosmetic procedure done, but because they had no way of knowing what the final result might be they quickly changed their minds. This really isn’t that much of a surprise when you consider the plethora of questions that surround a possible candidate for cosmetic surgery. Questions such as; how will I look? Will I look natural? Will people be able to tell that I’ve had anything done? These concerns are very valid and well founded when it comes to the idea of cosmetic surgery, especially given the fact that the only guide a person has had to go by was photos of the after results of other people who have had similar procedures done. While these considerations can present a quandary for a person considering the idea of cosmetic surgery there is no longer any reason to be worried as there is now a solution to the problem.

Dr. William Bruno, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, has found the answer to these concerns for the potential cosmetic surgery candidate. The Vectra 3D Imaging System utilizes special cameras and dynamic soft tissue modeling technology in order to generate an actual 3D model that has been formed after calculating what the realistic outcome to a cosmetic surgical procedure might be. The model is made based upon volume, distance, shape, placement, gravity and precise measurements. While a model of every single possible cosmetic surgical procedure scenario might not be available, the list of what types of models is quiet impressive. The system can offer you a model of the bodily areas such as face, breast and body sculpting.

Models for cosmetic procedures that have been utilized at this point include:
Rhinoplasty
Chin augmentation
Liposuction
Breast augmentation
Tummy tuck
Cellulite removal
Face lift
Facial implant
Botox and fillers
Lip augmentation
Breast reduction
Buttock augmentation and lift
Dermabrasion and Chemical peels

Although being able to see a model of what the results can look like is definitely a big asset, this system also gives you the option of exploring what various sizes of implants would look like as well.

Before there were silicone implants women who wanted breast augmentation were forced to have saline implants put in. Now that silicone implants are available, and approved to be used, many women are rushing to get them. Women who already have saline implants must not be discouraged, because the switch from saline to silicone is easy and quick.

Dr. Allan Parangao, the author of ‘A Woman’s Guide to Cosmetic Breast Surgery and Body Contouring’, reports that replacing saline implants with silicone implants is a simple procedure. In fact, the surgery can take less than 45 minutes to complete because a pocket already exists in the breast where the old implant had been. A local anesthetic is sufficient and Dr. Parangao reported that many women returned to work the very next day after having their breast implants switched.

Some women with saline implants wonder if it is really necessary to have their implants changed. In a press release, Dr. Cohen, a board-certified plastic surgeon of the Scottsdale Center for Plastic Surgery, said, “Some of my corrective surgery patients choose silicone partly because they weren’t happy with their experience with saline, but what’s interesting is that we’re starting to see many more patients wanting to ‘trade up’ to silicone for its own sake, without necessarily requiring significant correction at the same time.” He says that the silicone implants have a more natural texture and that they can help to compensate for many of the aesthetic challenges that come along with revision breast surgery.

Dr. Parangao said , “silicone gel implants feel more like natural breast tissue than saline implants do. Especially for women with relatively little natural breast tissue, silicon gel implants can give much more natural looking breast enhancement.” Saline implants sometimes take on a rippled effect which is not seen with silicon. Also silicon gel has been refined with a property that causes the gel to ‘stick’ to itself in the same way that breast tissues stick to each other. This creates a feel that is nearly indistinguishable from natural breast tissue.

In an article by American Health and Beauty, 41 year-old Patty said although “saline implants improved my figure 100%…they were hard. They looked great but did not feel natural.” After her breast implants were changed she said that her silicone breast felt better and she was actually able to push them together in a Wonder bra, which had been impossible with the saline.

UK cosmetic surgery companies such as The Harley Medical Group and Make Yourself Beautiful offer breast augmentations.

Improvements in cosmetic surgery are constantly being implemented. Procedures are revised and then revised again, to ensure that they are the best that they can be. Advances in technology also contribute to the improvements in plastic surgery. One of these improvements is the Vaser liposuction technique which is quickly becoming very popular.

It is said that Vaser Liposuction is the next generation in body contouring and has been named the ‘magic wand’ liposuction. It utilizes an ultrasonic wave, in a new and revolutionary way, to create a much less invasive procedure. Ultrasonic waves, better known as ultrasounds, have been used in the medical field for many years. They help a mother to get the first look at her baby and have been employed in teeth cleaning. Now a technique has been created which allows these waves to liquefy unwanted fat cells. An ultrasound wand is passed over the area where the fat is to be removed. Ultrasonic energy emanates from the wand and is able to liquefy the fat cells without harming any of the surround tissue. Thus, nerves, blood vessels, and connecting tissue are safe form the energy. Once the fat is liquefied, it is sucked out of the area through a small incision. The procedure is quick and a local anesthetic, ensures that it is painless.

Carla McKay wrote an article, for the Daily Mail, describing her experience with the Vaser Liposuction procedure. While doing a headstand in her yoga class she was disconcerted by her stomach as it reached for her chin. She described it as ‘a sagging lump of excess blubber’ and she was disgusted by it. When she looked around at the other people in her group she was unable to find a stomach that was any where near, as flabby and gross as hers. She quickly decided that, as a 58th birthday present, she would have liposuction.

After exhaustive research she decided that the new Vaser liposuction, performed by Dr. Mike Comins, was worth a try. After being thoroughly numbed around the abdomen the doctor rubbed the Vaser wand over her. The wand was not painful, however she said, “it felt like a scraping sensation inside, as if he were weeding my stomach with a trowel.” It took around one and a half hours for the entire procedure and recovery time was not very long at all. She was thrilled with the results. She had lost three inches on her waist and was able to fit into jeans that she had not worn in a long time.

Vaser Liposuction is a wonderful new way to have fat removed, without having to undergo a very invasive surgery. Big incisions are not necessary with this innovative approach and the results have been described as ‘a dream come true’.

The cosmetic surgery field has continuously grown to encompass more and more different procedures. Not only are there more procedures, but there are also better techniques and tools. Technological advances from many fields have helped cosmetic surgery to become safe and efficient. More advances are made every day to improve plastic surgery. One of these improvements is a procedure called, cell enriched breast enhancement.

Cell enriched breast enhancement, dubbed ‘Stem Cell Boob Job’, involves taking fat cells from other parts of the body and putting them in the breasts to increase bust size. It is a chemical free treatment, and there are claims that it is permanent. This could be the next generation of breast implants, however a cosmetic expert advises against rushing into the procedure. Dr. Ravi Jain, medical director at Riverbanks Clinic, says, “Almost all the best cosmetic treatments currently available are actually 3rd or 4th generation versions of earlier treatments which have been refined and improved over time and as more data became available. Stem cell-based beauty treatments are certainly going to be big in the future but the treatment is still in its infancy, and in my opinion, has at least another 12-18 months of modification ahead of it.’

The new stem cell procedures are being offered in some clinics in the UK. Cell enriched breast enhancements and cell enriched Botox can be found being offered by certain surgeons but not Dr. Jain. He will most likely be offering some selected trails in 2010, however these trials will be done in order to gain better data about the long term success of the treatment. He said, “If the trial prove successful, this approach could be used to treat a range of conditions more effectively including sun damage, scars, skin tone, and lines and wrinkles. This is definitely going to be the future of cosmetic treatments, but still has some way to go.”

His statements show that he is very excited about the procedure, but being a doctor since 1995 he has gained some wisdom, when it comes to new treatments. He does not want to see a flood of people rush into something that is not yet perfected and then be disappointed with the results. Most procedures require some fine tuning before they become efficient. His advice is, merely, that people wait a little while before
having this new procedure performed on them.

With cosmetic surgery becoming more and more important in our society, the popularity of the types of procedures that people are choosing is shifting. Breast augmentation was the most popular procedure in 2009, and a recent survey by MYA, a plastic surgery group, has found that it has also been the most popular surgery in 2010 so far. Liposuction is not very far behind in the popularity ratings. What is surprising, is that liposculpting is slowly overtaking full liposuction in popularity.

According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, nearly one in ten procedures performed in 2009 were liposuction procedures, with a total of 3,509 surgeries in the UK. Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery where fat cells are removed from the body in medium to large amounts. This reduces fat in areas below the chin, upper arms, lower stomach, hips and thighs. Liposculpting, on the other hand, is a
liposuction procedure where small to medium amounts of fat cells are removed. This procedure is designed to sharpen features and accentuate areas with a more sleek appearance. The areas normally associated with liposculpting are the neck, lower cheeks, upper stomach, outer buttocks, calves, and ankles.

The refined and more localized procedure of liposculpture has slowly become more popular than liposuction. Mario Russo, medical director at The Hospital Group, said, “The market and business demands of the patients are moving very much towards localised [liposuction] now and therefore the main requests are more for minor areas and more for sculpting one or a few areas at a time.”

Liposculpting is a less invasive and less extensive form of liposuction. Instead of a large incision, a small incision is made and the cannula is inserted there. It is usually an outpatient surgery due to its reduction in invasiveness, compared to liposuction. The procedure also requires less recovery time, and thus many people are rushing to the surgeons for some sculpting.

Liposculpting is not a weight loss procedure. It should be understood that having this procedure done will not create drastic changes like liposuction. Liposculpting is the sculpting and reshaping of small to medium problem areas on the body. Little pockets of fat are sometimes very frustrating. Some people have tried every exercise, weight loss pill, or diet, and still cannot get those pockets to go away. Liposculpting is a surefire way to remove those pockets for good. Many people have found that liposculpting has accentuated parts of their body and given them the look that they had only ever dreamed of.

Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures for both men and women. Pockets of fat around the body are troublesome and very hard to get rid of. Liposuction has proved to be a cure for this for a lot people. Humarira Ansai, in a recent article for DNA, said that many people are using their wedding day as an excuse to finally have a liposuction procedure.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure in which fat cells are removed from the body. Fat cells are designed to store unused energy in the body and removing them is simple and easy. Traditional liposuction is performed using a cannula (hollow tube) and an aspirator (suction device). The cannula is inserted into the body, then it is pushed and pulled to loosen the fat cells. The fat is then sucked through the tool and out of the body.

There have been amazing advances in liposuction, and traditional liposuction is not the only procedure available. There are procedures which now use ultrasound to liquefy the fat cells and suck them out through smaller incisions. This procedure has been touted as the next generation in liposuction. There is also a procedure which uses radiofrequency assisted technology to liquefy the fat. This procedure has
an added benefit of tightening the surrounding skin at the same time.

According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons nearly one in ten surgeries performed in 2009 were liposuction procedures. There were a total of 3,509 Liposuction surgeries performed and men actually make up more than ten percent of these procedures. Mr. Rajiv Grover, consultant plastic surgeon and BAAPS Secretary responsible for the UK national audit of cosmetic surgery, said, “This year we have recorded a dramatic rise in a number of male surgical procedures, probably due to heightened media attention, which has allowed men to realise the positive outcomes that can be achieved.”

The Plastic Surgery Channel, an online resource, said that those who are aware of the benefits of liposuction are not surprised that it is a very popular procedure. Liposuction has been shown to improve health which is a benefit that cannot be overlooked. Most doctors agree that weight loss is the best way to reduce the risk of heat disease, and diabetes. Of course, the most popular benefit is the improved appearance. Removing stubborn pockets of fat can slim and reshape the contours of a person’s body and give them a figure that they are proud of.

According to the Plastic Surgery Channel, people consider liposuction to be a ‘dream come true’. However, they went on to warn people that it is important to not enter into a decision to have a surgery with a ‘cavalier attitude’. The site advised people to research the procedure thoroughly and chose the right surgeon.

Some women have a celebrity that they worship, and would do most anything to look like her. For many women it is Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, or Scarlet Johansson. According to the Jarkarta Post there has been a huge increase in the number of women wanting surgery to give them a figure like Beyonce and Jenifer Lopez. But for one women, it is a cartoon character whom she idolizes. The character is Jessica Rabbit, from the cartoon film ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit.’

57 year old Annette Edwards, of Worchester, is a rabbit breeder. She loves rabbits and even bred a rabbit that holds the record, as the largest rabbit in the world. She has, however, taken her love of rabbits to a whole new level. In the film ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’, the main character Roger is a rabbit who’s wife is named Jessica Rabbit. Annette decided to get ,10,000 worth of cosmetic surgeries done, to look just like Jessica. In an interview with This Morning she said, “I just think she’s a very sexy cartoon.”

She went on a strict three month diet, eating ‘like a rabbit’, to lose enough weight. Then over a period of a week she underwent a wide range of procedures. She had a breast lift to approximate the characters bossom better. Then came a brow lift which tightened up her face a little. She also had Botox injections in her upper cheeks and a plastic implant in her chin. She is very satisfied with the result and loves to dress up as Jessica. She told This Morning that she does not dress like Jessica all the time, only for shoots. She said, “I am not Jessica at home, I’m just a normal person.”

Many people choose plastic surgery to give them the body that they have always dreamed of. Annette’s dream face was a cartoon character and she was able to get it, through cosmetic procedures. She said that her children think she is a little mad, but they are supportive. She told the Daily Mail, “Since I had it done I have had loads of compliments and I love the way I look now.”

Being able to achieve the body of her dreams has been a wonderful experience for Annette. When asked, on This Morning, about the money that she spent she said, “Yeah, well, you only live once. Do what makes you feel good.”

Advances in technology are happening every day, and this is especially true with cosmetic surgery. Through the years, the procedures have been streamlined into very efficient surgeries. Procedures, however, are not the only thing, to have changed in the plastic surgery field. The tools available to surgeons has also improved drastically. One such tool is the patented Vaser Technology and the advanced LipoSelection technique.

Vaser Liposuction has been touted as the next generation in body contouring and quickly been dubbed the ‘magic wand’ liposuction. It uses ultrasonic waves in a unique way. Utrasonic waves have been used in medical procedures for many years, for getting that first look at a baby and also for teeth cleaning. Now a technique has been created to use these ultrasonic waves to liquefy unwanted fat cells. The ultrasonic energy is able to target the fat cells and leave surrounding tissue, such as nerves, connecting tissue and blood vessels, unharmed. The procedure is quick and painless due to a local anesthetic. Vaser Liposuction is the ‘new kid on the block’ in cosmetic surgery and is proving to be very effective.

Carla McKay, a Daily Mail Journalist, wrote an article describing her experience with this magic wand liposuction. She had noticed during her yoga class that her stomach was a ‘sagging lump of excess blubber.’ She decided it was time to have liposuction, and chose the new Vaser Liposuction procedure. She wrote, that the doctor made three small incisions and then rubbed the wand over her belly. She found
that she could feel a slight tugging sensation as the fat was liquefied, but there was no pain. Once he had finished with the wand he sucked the fat out through the incisions.

The whole process took about an hour and a half and after two weeks of wearing a corset Carla was done. She wrote, “My waist has reappeared and my stomach disappeared. I am over the moon. The bag containing nine pairs of old, too-tight jeans has re-emerged from the bottom of my wardrobe and some of them are even too loose for me.” She lost three inches on her waist and is very happy with the results of this new procedure.

Exercise and eating healthy is sometimes not enough to loose that extra fat around the middle. The magic wand is giving people the contours that they have always wanted, but been unable to get.

Plastic surgeons perform millions of procedures around the world. These procedures include invasive surgeries such as breast augmentation, liposuction, and tummy tucks. They also perform non-invasive surgeries such as botox and face lifts. When asked what surgeries these surgeons have underwent themselves, liposuction was a popular response.

The Plastic Surgery Channel reported that the American Society of Plastic surgeons performed a survey on some of its members. It reported that, of the 276 members surveyed, 62 percent had undergone procedures themselves. Most of them had undergone noninvasive procedures such as botox injections, laser skin resurfacing, and chemical peels. The Cosmetic Surgery Review said that there were more female surgeons who had opted for these non-invasive surgeries than male surgeons. However, the survey did reveal that a higher percentage of male surgeons underwent cosmetic procedures than men in the rest of society.

The most popular surgical procedures among these plastic surgeons were liposuction and breast enhancement procedures. In fact, more than 30 percent of the surgeons reported that they had opted for invasive procedures. This figure is not as high as the percentages for the general public, however it is encouraging. The fact that surgeons are willing to undergo their own procedures allows them to be a walking advertisement for plastic surgery.

Liposuction is a very popular procedure throughout the world. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons reported that there were 3,509 liposuction procedures performed on men and women in the UK during 2009. This means that nearly one in ten procedures done in the UK are liposuction surgeries. This procedure is popular because it can be applied in many areas on the body, to tighten them up and give the body a more streamlined look.

Liposuction procedures are quick, usually taking between 20 and 30 minutes. It is a procedure that removes pockets of fat from problem areas on the body. It is done by using a suction tube called a cannula. The cannula is inserted into a small incision and then it is pushed and pulled through the fat cells. This pushing and pulling breaks up the fat cells, allowing them to be sucked out of the body. The results are amazing and many people have learned this fact for themselves.

This survey will surely make people more comfortable with choosing to have plastic surgical procedures. Knowing that many plastic surgeons choose to undergo the same procedures they perform may raise the confidence of prospective patients.
