The Advances in Cosmetic Procedures Previews

How many times have you considered the idea of plastic surgery, but because you were not certain as to what the end result would be pushed the idea out of you mind? While a large number of people do have plastic surgery, there is an even larger number that have considered having some type of cosmetic procedure done, but because they had no way of knowing what the final result might be they quickly changed their minds. This really isn’t that much of a surprise when you consider the plethora of questions that surround a possible candidate for cosmetic surgery. Questions such as; how will I look? Will I look natural? Will people be able to tell that I’ve had anything done? These concerns are very valid and well founded when it comes to the idea of cosmetic surgery, especially given the fact that the only guide a person has had to go by was photos of the after results of other people who have had similar procedures done. While these considerations can present a quandary for a person considering the idea of cosmetic surgery there is no longer any reason to be worried as there is now a solution to the problem.

Dr. William Bruno, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, has found the answer to these concerns for the potential cosmetic surgery candidate. The Vectra 3D Imaging System utilizes special cameras and dynamic soft tissue modeling technology in order to generate an actual 3D model that has been formed after calculating what the realistic outcome to a cosmetic surgical procedure might be. The model is made based upon volume, distance, shape, placement, gravity and precise measurements. While a model of every single possible cosmetic surgical procedure scenario might not be available, the list of what types of models is quiet impressive. The system can offer you a model of the bodily areas such as face, breast and body sculpting.

Models for cosmetic procedures that have been utilized at this point include:
Rhinoplasty
Chin augmentation
Liposuction
Breast augmentation
Tummy tuck
Cellulite removal
Face lift
Facial implant
Botox and fillers
Lip augmentation
Breast reduction
Buttock augmentation and lift
Dermabrasion and Chemical peels

Although being able to see a model of what the results can look like is definitely a big asset, this system also gives you the option of exploring what various sizes of implants would look like as well.

Cosmetic Surgery in China Increases by Nearly 3 Billion Dollars

Euromonitor online magazine has discovered that in recent times cosmetic surgery procedures have been increasingly popular with the Chinese population and brought in approximately 2.98 billion this year alone. It has also been stated that this number will likely increase by 20 percent each year.

As of 2007, China’s skincare sector was worth 4.65 billion. This was due to the fact that many marketing companies introduced collagen as the new and novel anti-aging treatment for reducing the appearance and aptitude of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. For women who have been afraid of more invasive treatments such as botox and face-lift surgery, collagen seemed to be the ideal beauty supplement.

Furthermore, most Brits associate botox with over-sized lips caused from lip injections. Chinese women, on the other hand started to consume collagen as a drink substitute. This was due to the fact that there was a lot of hype about this supplement being able to give women youthful looking skin. Much of this hype was seen across Beijing and Shanghai departments stores who advertised that drinking collagen for a month would help women with the appearance of their skin.

In addition, DHC Cosmetics Company in China created a beauty supplement drink, which contains fish collagen; however, consumers were informed that these products do not have a foul fishy odor. Instead, this pale juice has a sour taste that is a little bit sweet.

The Chinese spokesperson for DHC stated consumers would see a noticeable difference in the texture and overall appearance of their skin if they sip this beauty supplement before they go to bed every night for ten days. This same spokesperson also stated that in order to reap the full benefits of this product, consumers will need to continue drinking it.

Many Chinese women are investing in this product at lightening speed because sales in collagen tablets have increased dramatically. One bottle of DHC China cherry flavored liquid costs 29.9 yuan and is considered a best seller.

However, there are skeptics and one such skeptic is Bian Huawei, who is a vice-director of nutrition at the Sun Yat-Sen University Hospital in Guangzhou. He believes that these supplements do not provide the women with any visible benefits.

Huawei then goes on to state that the amount of collagen the women are digesting when they drink this beauty supplement is not enough to give them the skin benefits they are seeking. He also adds that these women would have better results by eating more fruits and vegetables because they contain antioxidants.

High-Volume Fat Transfers

Considering how easy it is to alter one’s physical appearance to fit in with what society considers to be beautiful, it is unsurprising to learn that there is a large demand for augmentation procedures. Some of such surgeries include breast and buttock enhancement, facelfits and Liposuction. There has recently been a renewed interest in fat transfer, and with improved techniques, new procedures can be performed. The use of LipoSelection and an altrasonic contouring technique, it is now possible to undergo natural autmentation. This technology is safe and designed to extract fat cells for transplantation into other areas of the body. This procedure increases the safety reduces complications associated with most other augmentation surgeries, which allows for faster patient recovery.

There is currently one surgeon in New England who is trained and capable of offering this procedure, along with the contouring procedure, which is an advanced sculpting technique capable of removing fat around specific areas. A highly specialized technique and set of instruments are utilized in order to perform the procedure, which provides natural and lasting results. Though this technique has been around for a very long time, it has not been used until recently, and this technique makes it possible to perform fat transfers for natural augmentation procedures. The improved techniqe has changed the way that large volume fat transfers will be used, and is perfect for patients who wish for natural fillers. It is a time-saving surgery that reduces cell trauma, which makes it possible for people interested in cosmetic surgery to avoid synthetic implants.

The procedure is a very simple one that eliminates the rejection of implants, or the possibility of scars left over from evasive incisions. This procedure can be used multiple times by one individual, and there is no need for invasive surgery. LipoSelection is the most state-of-the art technique available to resculpt patients’ bodies as they wish, with little risk involved in the procedure. Such technologies can help minimize patients’ recovery time and cost, with an increase in satisfaction after undergoing the procedure. With this in mind, it has become easier and less costly for people unhappy with their appearances to customize themselves in nearly whatever manner they wish.

LipoSelection and high-volume fat transfer procedures have opened the door for a much wider away of cosmetic augmentation procedures. As technologies continue to advance, it is easy to see how high-volume fat transfer will be the choice in augmentation surgeries, especially when compared to what is already available on the market.

Reconstructive Breast Surgery

It is normal procedure for women to undergo breast reconstruction surgery following a mastectomy. There is a new device that prevents one of the complications that sometimes arise after this surgery.

One common complication is the skin covering the breast during reconstruction dies, due to inadequate blood flow. This complication happens to 1 out of 7 women who undergo reconstructive surgery and it generally results in emergency surgery and many other health related problems.

The good news is that thanks to this new device, surgeons can accurately predict if a patient is at risk of developing this complication after surgery, thus preventing the skin from dying. The new device is called a “spy system” it allows doctors to detect the blood flow within the breast, to discover which areas aren’t receiving a good supply of blood.

When many women have their yearly mammogram they usually receive a normal test result. In some cases, it is during this annual exam that some women receive notice that they have abnormal cells in their breast tissue. The follow-up is immediate and the patient is scheduled for a biopsy exam so that their physician can take a closer look at the abnormal cells.

The cells are examined under a microscope to determine if they are benign or cancerous. If the cells are cancerous, the patient must then undergo a MRI to check for other growths or tumours or to see if there is a second area of cancer cells within the breast. It is during the MRI that the breasts duct, lining and the lymph nodes are checked for additional cancerous cells.

Some women with cancerous cells or those with a family history of breast cancer may not be good candidates for a lumpectomy. A lumpectomy preserves the breasts and it involves only lump removal, during surgery some of the surrounding breast tissue is often removed. When a patient is ruled out for a lumpectomy, a full mastectomy is considered to be the only available option.

Many women decide to undergo a radical mastectomy when cancerous cells are discovered in one breast. They opt for the surgical removal of both breasts, deciding to avoid the possibility of developing cancer in the other breast at a later time.

Today reconstructive surgery involves removal of the breast tissue only, preserving the nipple and skin to help restore the breasts to a near normal appearance.

Cosmetic Surgery

Many people today are taking advantage of the opportunity to improve their looks through cosmetic and plastic surgery. Whether they want to look younger or just feel better about their appearance, more and more people are turning to cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is still a surgical procedure, and like any surgery, it still has risks.

Reducing the risks begins with choosing the right surgeon. Some board certifications mean nothing. The surgeon you choose should be certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He or she should also be certified for your specific procedure. A good surgeon will offer a free consultation to assess your personal needs, discuss your personal goals, and help you choose the right procedure for you.

Finding the right surgeon is crucial. Plastic surgeons are not only skilled doctors but they are also artists. Choosing a good, qualified surgeon will reduce your chances of undesirable results. The best surgeons can make major changes in your appearance look natural. Take some time to talk with and research different surgeons to be sure you are getting the best surgeon available for your procedure.

Even the best surgeon cannot guarantee that you will become a movie star over night. When choosing cosmetic surgery, have a realistic idea of what you would like done. Don’t try to become someone else through cosmetic surgery. A plastic surgeon may be an artist, but even a great surgeon has limits.

After surgery, be prepared for recovery time. After the recovery time, you may feel better about yourself. You may find that you feel younger and look more attractive than before the surgery. Enjoy your new look.

The best way to find out about plastic surgery is to call a variety of cosmetic surgery practices and ask questions. Ask about certification, the different procedures, and the process. Also ask about the recovery time and what to expect afterward. Most practices can answer these questions over the phone, and you will have narrowed down your list of prospective surgeons. Once you have gotten some basic information, you can begin talking with individual surgeons. In the end, you will find the right surgeon for you.

Botox Has Many Uses

The Food and Drug Administration has recently approved Botox to help treat chronic migraines. This raises the question about what other conditions Botox, also know as the freezing fluid, is being or could possibly be used for. Off label use of medicines is very common, but it is more common when it comes to Botox. It has become an option to treat some cases of leaky bladders, excessive sweating, gummy smiles and involuntary ticking or winking.

Dr. Craig A. Vander Kolk is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. He claims to have recently treated a brass instrument player who received an injury while playing the horn. Vander Kolk commonly uses Botox to treat what is know as trumpet-lip. He sees people from around the country from all the major orchestras for this same condition. “It does things to smooth muscles that help many conditions. It has so many different uses that it has changed things a lot for people”. “It’s helpful for many different conditions”, says Vander Kolk.

Dr. Joseph Eviatar is a board-certified oculofacial plastic surgeon and ophthamologist; he is also the medical director of Chelsea Eye and Plastic Surgery Associates. Eviatar claims that Botox can redo a ‘gummy smile’. “The vast majority of people have no idea they can get rid of a horsey smile by dropping their upper lip a little.”

“It is also useful to treat people who have had a stroke”, says Dr. Noah Rosen. Rosen is a neurologist at the North Shore University Hospital and also uses Botox to treat involuntary tics and movements such as involuntary winking.

Dr. Peter McAllister has used Botox to treat bladder spasms and says “It can also be used to treat excessive sweating. McAllister is a neurologist in Fairfield, Connecticut and a clinical assistant professor of neurology at Yale University School of Medicine.

Vander Kolk says, “You can’t quite call it a miracle drug, but it’s an amazing medication.” Other doctors are beginning to agree with him about the many possibilities that Botox could have for patients with all sorts of different conditions.

Breast Lift Surgery Considerations

Breast lift or breast augmentation surgery is a person’s own choice. Breast tissue can be damaged by age, weight, gravity, pregnancy and nursing. A breast lift will firm and raise breasts, while breast augmentation will increase the size and shape of the breasts. Plus there is breast reduction surgery to decrease the size of the breasts.

Many times a combination of procedures need to be done. A breast augmentation and a lift together or a lift and breast reduction can be done to deliver the results a woman is looking for. With any of these procedures there is an examination and evaluation done by the doctor. This ensures that the patient as all the information they need to make an informed decision to have the procedure or not. Any woman considering these procedures should be in optimal health both physically and mentally. There should also be realistic goals and expectations of the results the woman will see after the operation as well.

As with any surgery there are risks associated with it. There can also be complications too. Knowing that there can be infections, increased bleeding, side effects to the anesthesia used and scarring to name a few should be considered as well. While at the consultation with any doctor that has been chosen, the possible complications that can occur should be gone over. All risks that are associated to the procedure should be discussed as well. However, the benefits should be looked at and weighed in as well. These questions should be completely covered in the consultation so that a patient fully understands the pre, during and post surgical results and care.

Having this information will make deciding on to have the procedure much easier, as well as deciding which procedure will best for you. Keep in mind that having a breast lift procedure done will mean that the breasts can be firmed and contours added to sagging breasts. However, combining a lift with breast augmentation will mean that the breasts will be fuller, larger, lifted and firm as well. This is true with breast reductions as well. These combined procedures many times will create longer lasting results that are also more appealing aesthetically.

Not Far Behind Europe

A breast cancer report is good news for the UK and women. Over 20 years now, the death rate from breast cancer has continued to fall rapidly, with a 35% decline in deaths. With the advantage of early diagnosis, surgery, drug treatment and access to specialists has been the key to survival. The UK originally started with the highest death rate in the world in the 80′s and it has decreased dramatically. However, many women would have survived had they lived somewhere else in Europe.

The death rate in Britain has decreased to the European rate of 28.1 deaths for every 100,000 women afflicted. However, the Netherlands is already at 30.1 and France is at 25.6. A researcher by the name of Philippe Autier that is part of the International Agency for Research on Cancer feels that England will continue to decrease the death toll and could go below France’s levels.

Britain has seen a 2% decrease in the death toll and this is better than France which has a 1.4% rate. However, France has the highest rate of screening for breast cancer in the world. They spend the most on cancer drugs per person than any other country and they ensure that doctors are following guidelines and procedures when it comes to breast cancer. They have been at the very front when it comes to new drugs and treatments available for breast cancer as well. This means that France needs to look at what is happening and what is going wrong with the breast cancer death rate not dropping more significantly.

The numbers have helped to clear up why the breast cancer death rate is still so poor in the UK, while the performance has been very good. A reason may be that the deaths from breast cancer are recorded, but cancer survival cases are not. These shortcomings create an impression of a far worse situation then there really is.

Furthermore, ageism is still a problem in UK and Europe. The death rate has declined in every country with women under 50, than women over 70. The reason may be that younger women respond better to treatment, even when the cancer is more aggressive. However, women over 70 also do not receive the same treatment or concern that younger woman do.
