Valentine’s Day Rush to The Cosmetic Surgeon

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News, Female Cosmetic Surgery, Weird and Wonderful — Tags: Amit Gupta, at Criticare Hospital in Mumbai, British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, chin surgery, cosmetic surgeries, cosmetic surgery, dimple creation surgery, Divine Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, Manoj Kumar Manwani, nose surgey, plastic surgeons, Surgeons, Valentine's Day — admin @ 9:54 am

Cosmetic surgery is popular throughout the year, but surgeons say that around Valentine’s Day the number of procedures increases. Many people actually give cosmetic surgery as a gift to their partners on this day. Some surgeons even offer special packages during the Valentine’s Day season. During this time of the year when many are searching just a little harder for love. They may think that a little tuck here or there might give them a better chance at finding it.

Manoj Kumar Manwani, a surgeon at Criticare Hospital in Mumbai, is not surprised by this years increase in procedures around Valentine’s Day. He sees the same increase each year and says that at this time of year ‘everyone wants to look good’. He reports that the most common procedures near Valentine’s day are changes in the nose and under the chin. A new trend is now rising, though. A large increase in the amount of people getting dimple creation surgery has been seen.

Cosmetic surgery used to be a thing for the rich and famous. The increase in procedures shows that this is no longer the case. Due to an increased confidence in the results of the surgeries, many people are getting procedures done all around the world. This increase in the range of peoples making use of cosmetic surgeries is accredited to the fact that many people have more money now. The increase in surgeries has also allowed the price of the procedures to drop substantially.

These factors have allowed men and women to attain the body that they always dreamed of. Valentine’s day is a perfect time to gift that special partner in a person’s life. A surgeon, at the Divine Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, named Amit Gupta says that it is normal to see a twenty percent increase in procedures requested around Valentine’s.

Cosmetic surgery is indeed on the rise. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons reported that, in 2009, there were around 34,187 procedures performed in the UK alone. This is over three times the amount performed in 2003 which was around 10,700 procedures.

Don’t Throw Out Those High Heels

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News, Female Cosmetic Surgery, Weird and Wonderful — Tags: balls of their feet, collagen, Cosmetic Procedures, CosmeticSurgeryGuru, Dermal Filler, dermal fillers implanted in the balls of their feet, dermal implant placed in the ball of the foot, injected into the balls, plastic surgeons, plastic surgery procedure, removal of an implant, slowly dissolve, walking on a pillow, wearing heeled shoes — admin @ 12:21 pm

Many women suffer from the pain and burning, in the balls of their feet, associated with wearing high heel shoes. Most would argue that the pain is a necessary by product of looking good. Well this does not have to be the case, because a new procedure is rocking the world which will wipe out this pain. Plastic surgeons have perfected a procedure that will cushion the balls of a woman’s feet to allow her to wear those heels pain free.

There are many professions, that women hold positions in, that require fancy shoes with a heel. Company employees from executives to secretaries all feel the pressure of needing to look there best, and nothing looks better on a woman’s foot then a sleek shoe with a long heel. Models and movie stars also feel that necessity to always wear a heeled shoe. How wonderful it is that such a procedure exists which will make that possible without all the pain.

It is not only professional women who enjoy the allure of wearing heeled shoes. Whether she’s a single women going out for a drink, or a wife and mother hoping to impress her husband, she will slip her foot into a heeled shoe and endure the pain that it entails. Beauty does not have to be painful. Women of all walks will benefit from this procedure, allowing them to strut in a heel comfortably.

This procedure involves a dermal implant placed in the ball of the foot which adds a cushion. This cushion creates a sensation akin to walking on a pillow. Not many women can say that they feel like they are walking on a pillow when they are wearing heels. The dermal filler, collagen, is easily injected into the balls of the feet and is a natural protein found in the skin. It will slowly dissolve so that removal of an implant is not necessary. This does however mean that the procedure will need to be repeated periodically.

CosmeticSurgeryGuru reported that in 2009 there was an increase in the number of UK women undergoing cosmetic procedures involving dermal fillers implanted in the balls of their feet. In fact the site said that clinics have reported that they have performed five times the procedures of previous years in Britain. Christmas seems to be the most popular season to undergo this plastic surgery procedure.

The Perfect Mask - Killer Uses Plastic Surgery to Hide His Identity

Filed under: Weird and Wonderful — Tags: Lindsay Hawker, Osaka clinic, plastic surgery, pros and cons of plastic surgery, Tatsuya Ichihashi — admin @ 4:25 pm

The suspected killer of British national Lindsay Hawker has come out of hiding for a dose of plastic surgery, presumably to hide his identity from the police who are still searching for him.

Tatsuya Ichihashi went to an Osaka clinic and underwent plastic surgery nearly two and a half years after he strangled the young woman in his apartment after she went there to give him a conversational English speaking lesson. Ichihashi has been hiding from the police since soon after the crime occurred and only surfaced recently at the clinic.

A video tape of the clinic shows a man matching Mr. Ichihashi in size and height, unshaven and wearing a dark cap leaving the clinic. Though his stature and eye color match those of the wanted man, no details were available from the clinic regarding
The type of surgery he may have had. Enhanced photos showing what the manmight look like now after various types of surgery have been released to the press in an effort to catch the criminal once and for all. Police have also created images of the man with facial hair and dressed in drag in order to disseminate them to the public as well.

This story illustrates some of the seedier aspects of cosmetic surgery as unscrupulous people can use the procedures to change their appearance and hide from the world. Many responsible surgeons are advocating that pre-surgery counseling sessions should be required of patients so that doctors can interview them and make sure their reasons for seeking out such a life altering procedure are healthy. As the world seraches for Mr. Ichihashi, it also examines the pros and cons of plastic surgery.

How to Build a Bride One Plastic Surgery at a Time

Filed under: Weird and Wonderful — Tags: a bigger chest, a tighter face, Botox Injections, breast augmentation procedures, cosmetic surgeon married, German cosmetic surgeon, new eyes, smaller hips, smaller thighs — admin @ 1:54 pm

A German cosmetic surgeon married an average looking woman with the idea that by using his expertise with the scalpel, he could create the perfect woman.

This modern day Frankenstein performed eight operations on his 33 year old wife. Claiming he saw potential in his flat chested, big thighed sweetheart, Reza Vossough proved that true love is only skin deep when he cut into her body and altered her body so much she is almost unrecognizable from her former self.

Boasting about his work Vossough commented, “When I first met Cany she had physical deficiencies but I could see that there was something there. She had big hips and thighs, so we made corrections, and then did a little bit more… it’s better than nature could do.” Now five years and eight operations later, Cany has new eyes, a bigger chest, smaller hips, smaller thighs, and a tighter face. Instead of being insulted by her husband’s lack of satisfaction with her appearance, Cany is thrilled with the results and quips, “When your husband is a plastic surgeon, then the scalpel is your friend.” The countless botox injections as well as the 1600 grams of silicone needed to create the new Cany have radically changed her appearance in dramatic ways.

Her four breast augmentation procedures have boosted her cup size from an A to an F. When asked if he had trouble operating on his own wife, Vossough, who performs over 1200 procedures a year on patients at his clinic in Berlin said, “On the operating table her face is covered, she’s anonymous like any patient.” The $32,500 price tag for all this surgery doesn’t stress out Vossough, he performed the procedures himself and waived his fee!

Vossough has not ruled out future procedures for Cany, consenting that she may need a facelift sometime in the future. Vossough says that performing theses surgeries is “almost like being God- you have the ability to change nature.” Vossough admits that his view of his wife may be see as somewhat unconventional by some, but he explains that for him, his wife is like a piece of jewelry to be valued and displayed.

Fat for Sale - Peruvuan Gangsters Kill Farmers for Their Fat

Filed under: Weird and Wonderful — Tags: cosmetics market, European cosmetic brokers, fat rejuvenating skin creams, human fat, human fat extract, lipo, liposuction, liquefied human fat, murder, rejuvenating skin creams, skin cream — admin @ 10:49 pm

A morbidly bizarre case has unfolded in Peru involving members of a gang who kidnapped and killed local farmers in order to drain the fat from their bodies and sell it for cosmetic purposes.

Hoping to make some quick money from European cosmetic brokers, the three gang members were arrested by Lima police officers with bottles of liquefied human fat found on them. Peru’s chief police office, General Felix Burga, has evidence that leads him to believe that this gang was one of several operating within the country hoping to export the product for use Italy. Members of the Italian mafia have also been implicated in the crime ring and are still at large.

The three men have confessed to killing five people by luring them into a remote building in the jungle and killing them before dismembering the bodies and draining the fat. The headless bodies were hung in the building with candles lit underneath them to cause the fat to melt and drop into containers.

The men believed that they could traffic the body fluids on the black market and make as much as 15,000 USD per litre by selling it for use in skin rejuvenating skin creams. In addition to the five murders already confessed to, police suspect the men in at least a dozen more killings. Col Jorge Meija, the chief of Peru’s anti-kidnapping police listed the charges against the suspects as kidnapping, homicide, and illegal firearm possession.

Experts in the cosmetic industry dispute the projected profit the men expected to make. Dr. Lisa Donofrio, a dermatology professor at Yale University in the United States said that although a small market might exist for human fat extract, it is not something that scientifically is a viable way of keeping skin supple. If there was merit to the use of human fat cells for cosmetic purposes, cosmetic surgery clinics all over the world have a surplus of the material left over and readily available from liposuction procedures.

The strangest part of the story rests in who the gangsters expected to sell their product to. There is no shortage of strange products on the cosmetics market, but this is simply not a needed ingredient in the creation of skin creams.

Beware of Spanish “Doctors” Performing Breast Implants in the Presence of Pets

Filed under: Weird and Wonderful — Tags: breast augmentation and buttock implants, Breast Implants, defective breast implant, inject liquid silicone, plastic surgery procedures, veterinarian instruments — admin @ 11:11 am

A Spanish man posing as a medical doctor has been arrested in Spain for performing cosmetic surgery procedures on human patients while using veterinarian instruments designed for use on animals.

The 63 year old man who resides in Barcelona was cited for practicing medicine without a license. His home office where he performed the procedures was filthy and contaminated by the presence of three dogs, a cat, and a parrot.

For the hefty price of 250 to 500 Euros (330.00 to 660.00 USD) the so called doctor used a veterinary tool to inject liquid silicone into his human patients. Performing both breast augmentation and buttock implants, the man is reported to have injected silicone directly into the patient’s bodies without using an implant. This procedure is dangerous and potentially life threatening. Authorities were tipped off to the man’s home medical practice when they received a complaint from a patient about a defective breast implant.

The arrest of this supposed doctor illustrates not only the popularity of cosmetic surgery, but the frustration patients have when considering the exorbitant costs of plastic surgery procedures. Patients desperate for the surgery were willing to have an invasive medical procedure done to them in a private citizen’s home without the benefit of sterile conditions and hospital care simply because it was offered to them at a fraction of the cost the procedure would cost in a reputable hospital.

As society becomes more comfortable with the concept of cosmetic surgery more and more disreputable opportunists will make themselves available to perform dangerous procedures at deflated prices. Though the fact that this man would do such a thing is reprehensible, what is more shocking is that people would go to him in the first place.

Airline Frequent Fliers Enjoy the Perks of Free Breast Implants

Filed under: Weird and Wonderful — Tags: customer loyalty programs, discount cosmetic surgery, free boob job, Free Breast Implants, free cosmetic surgery, hair replacement surgeries — admin @ 11:01 pm

In an effort to attract customers and be contemporary in their rewards for frequent fliers, Finnish airline Finnair has partnered with a Helsinki hospital to offer breast implants, facelifts, and hair replacement surgeries as a art of their customer loyalty programs.

With the use of special deals and giveaways rampant in the competitive plastic surgery market, Finnair joins an every growing group of businesses who peddle plastic surgery as if it was just another over the counter remedy.

In a world competing for the attention of the consumer, Finnair has found a way pique people’s interest in their airline and get some free publicity just by offering the creative ways to use frequent flyer miles. Though frequent flyers can still exchange their miles for upgrades, free hotel rooms, or consumer products, the diversity of their customers requires diversity in their reward offers in order to keep people in the air. Finnair has capitalized on the recent interest in cosmetic surgery in the hope that it will attract a new group of flyers by offering the cosmetic procedures as part of the Finnair Plus Loyalty Service. A free breast augmentation can be earned with 3.18 million points, roughly 120 round trip business class flights between Helsinki and New York. The program was created by Finnair together with the Nordstroem Hospital in Helsinki. Mikko Tuomainen, the director of loyalty programs for the arline said: “The idea was to incorporate partners and services from all walks of life.” The airline would like to expand the program so that it is not limited to just cosmetic procedures and includes other types of health care as well.

Though flyers still primarily use their points for the traditional offerings of free flights and hotel rooms, the trend toward plastic surgery rewards is a very real one. It stirs interest in the airline and creates a casual feeling toward the procedures so that they are no longer seen as serious medical surgeries with risks and rates of failure. Though the 4,640,000 flyer miles required to get a free facelift might be enough to send some customers to Finnair, the publicity of the offer itself is definitely enough to get people talking.

Ex-British Soldier Has Sex Change Operation

Filed under: Weird and Wonderful — Tags: breasts surgically altered, conversion into a male, Free Breast Implants, gender change operation, hormone therapy, Sex Change Operation — admin @ 12:03 am

A former British soldier living in Germany has won a settlement against her insurance company compelling them to give her free breast implants to complete her conversion into a male.

Formerly known as Private W.E. Smith, Sarah-Jane Smith sued the German health authority DAK claiming faulty hormone therapy caused her to grow deformed breasts. Claiming that her breasts “damaged her psychologically” Smith has insisted that the health care organization pay to have her breasts surgically altered. She has consulted with both psychologists and surgeons in order to gain advocates for her cause and new breast for her body.

The saga began in childhood, Smith claims that she always felt like a “woman trapped in a man’s body” and preferred playing with dolls to playing with more traditional little boy toys. Still striving to understand her sexuality, Smith joined the British Army and wore woman’s lingerie under her combat uniform. While stationed in Hanover, Germany, Smith married and fathered a daughter. When, after nineteen years of marriage her wife discovered the truth about Smith’s transsexual behavior, she filed for divorce which freed Smith up to pursue her dream of a sex change operation.

After successfully petitioning the health insurance system to pay for her gender change operation, she was disappointed to find out that the surgery approved by the health care system only covered the below the waist procedures. Her new breasts were to be created through hormone therapy but Smith became dissatisfied with her breasts seeing them as deformed and shapeless. She asked for breast augmentation surgery and was denied by DAK. A spokesperson for DAK stated: ‘the claim cannot be honored because the breasts do not show any signs of illness that requires treatment.”

Undaunted, Smith pursued her lawsuit and eventually won a settlement of 5,400 pounds, enough to pay for the surgery she desires. Smith was quoted as saying, “My life has become hell. I will not be a real woman without these breasts. They are vital to my overall completeness as a female and I don’t think it is unreasonable for the health authority to pay.” Smith has got both her wish and her new breasts and can now continue her journey as a woman in a woman’s body.

A would be breast implant bandit was apprehended after her old silicone implants gave her away.

Yvonne Jean Pampellonne had more than eight thousand pounds (15,000.00 USD) worth of cosmetic surgery done at a clinic in Southern California and then tried to escape paying the bill. Charged with commercial burglary, grand theft, and identity theft, Pampellonne will soon regret her new look.

The thirty year old used a stolen credit card and fake identity to have her ten year old silicone implants replaced with new ones at the pacific center for Plastic Surgery in Huntington Beach, California. She also had some liposuction performed and told the clinic that her real name was Cindy Payne. When she didn’t show up for follow up visits the clinic got concerned for her welfare and tried to contact her.

They soon realized what had happened when the true owner of the credit card called inquiring about the charges. Not willing to accept the loss, the clinic did some detective work of their own. It seems that all breast implants have serial numbers. By tracing the implants Pampellonne left behind the clinic was able to locate the surgeon who did the first breast augmentation. After contacting the police, the previous surgeon was shown a photo array from which he promptly picked out Pampellone from the group.

Though Pampellone eventually surrendered to the police and was released on bail, her story is one of caution to others who in their quest for fake boobs would use a fake identity to get them. Medical implants, whether they be silicone breast implants, plates used to fix a broken leg, or artificial hearts and pacemakers, all have traceable serial numbers.

Doctors will not be easily defrauded of their fees, as Pampellone found out. Pampellone’s attorney is convinced that a jury will eventually find her not guilty of the pending charges. Let’s hope so because her desperate desire for a new appearance may earn her some time in unflattering prison clothing where the cosmetic procedures she has learned to love are no where to be found.
