Doctor Fish and his Pedicure
Live fish which chow down on dead skin cells are giving pedicures to the pampered as well as helping cure psoriasis.
The Doctor fish ( if you want to get technical garra rufa ) eat the dead skin and leave healthy skin alone. In the video below you can see the little chompers nibbling away at the feet. The use of Doctor Fish as a treatment for psoriasis is available in Turkey where you submerge your whole body in huge swimming pools of thousands of fish for hours on end while they snack on you…..eeeeeeeek!!!!!

At the beginning of February I went on holiday to Singapore and tried out the Doctor Fish. I was a bit aprehensive to start but once you get over the initial “fear” of your hands and feet being covered in little fish, it’s fine – they don’t tickle, it feels as if they vibrate! My feet felt fantastic afterwards, really soft and smooth; if I could find somewhere in the UK near to Billericay in Essex I would definitely have it done again.

After doing some trekking in Thailand with the inevitable mosquito bites on my legs I tried this. After one 30 minute session most of the dead skin had gone and the wounds from the scratching of the mosquito bites had virtually gone along with all the itchimg. A second session 2 days later and all the dead skin gone and the mosquito bite marks completely gone. Tiger Balm has nothing on these blighters. All for 100 Baht (approx £2.00 GBP) for a 30 minute session. Is there a spa near Reading PLEASE?

Having survived the HPA scandal ! I say that because it was very damaging for Salons that operate within strict code of practice – hopefully it will eliminate the ‘cowboys’ trying to get ‘on the bandwagon’ for a quick $ and lets face it there are a lot of germs out there – everywhere actually; on door handles, on toilets, in pools and on plates everywhere ! Beware the consumer, however the Summary of the Very low risk (in fact not a single proven case ! was almost an afterthought) Gee thanks, maybe now the ‘popular press can publisise something more appropriate about the places that do NOT operate properly
