Enquiries For Plastic Surgeries Have Increased

Filed under: Breast Augmentation,Cosmetic Surgery News,Female Cosmetic Surgery — Tags: Add new tag, Breast Augmentation, breast uplift, cosmetic surgery, cosmetic surgery industry, GoodSurgeonGuide, liposuction, Make Yourself Amazing, MYA, nose reshaping, plastic surgery, triple board-certified plastic surgeon, Tummy Tuck — admin @ 8:52 am

January is a popular month for inquiries into plastic surgery. With the coming of the new year people begin to think about their goals for another year in their lives. The emphasis that society places on good looks, influences these goals and thus many people decide to look better in the new year. Dr. Richard Chaffoo, a triple board-certified plastic surgeon, said in a press release, “Most New Year’s resolutions boil down to one simple desire: to look and feel more like the person you want to be.” More often now, than previous years, people hope to accomplish this through plastic surgery.

Make Yourself Amazing (MYA) cosmetic surgery is a leading clinic in the UK. They reported that between January 1st and Jan 14, 2010 there was a 15% increase in enquiries when compared with the same time period in 2009. John Ryan, MYA Chairman, says, “January is a busy time for the cosmetic surgery industry. After the Christmas and New Year period people often start setting new goals or New Year’s resolutions.
These goals often include improving one’s appearance or completing a goal they never achieved last year. We get a lot of people coming in saying that they have been interested for a while but have never got round to arranging a consultation.”

The figures for enquiries showed that breast augmentation was the most sought after procedure. The number of enquiries for this procedure actually increased 21% over last year. Breast augmentation is followed by liposuction, breast uplift, nose reshaping, and tummy tuck, in that order. These numbers show that plastic surgery is continuing to grow in popularity and no end to this growth is in sight.

The GoodSurgeonGuide performed a study at the end of 2009 which revealed that women in particular are putting more emphasis on looking good in 2010. This study showed that 51 percent of the women surveyed expressed that they were considering having cosmetic surgery. Christina Clogg, co-founder of the guide said, “We were surprised that it [looking good] was more important to some than a more successful career or finding someone special.” Looking good has become a very important factor in society and women feel it more strongly than men. Women are expected to look young and pretty, so under going plastic surgery is an understandable extension of this ideal.

According to these surveys, 2010 will prove to be a very popular year for cosmetic surgery. People have become much more comfortable with having procedures done, and society has become much less judgmental of people who have had them.

Fat Grafting: On the Rise

Filed under: Body Contouring,Cosmetic Surgery News — Tags: Add new tag, Anup Dhir, breast, Breast Augmentation, buttock augmentation, cheek implants, chin augmentation, cosmetic surgeon, facial modifications, fat distribution, fat grafting, fat grafting process, filling, liposuction cannula, Meenakshi Agarwal, Mumbai-based cosmetic surgeon, New Delhi's Apollo Hospital, plastic surgery, popularity sky-rocket, silicon implants, Times of India, transfer the fat — admin @ 4:53 pm

Anup Dhir is a senior cosmetic surgeon at New Delhi’s Apollo Hospital and his opinion is that fat grafting is becoming the ‘biggest thing in plastic surgery.’ He told the Times of India that the procedure is already popular but the first half of the 21st century should see this popularity sky-rocket.

The fat grafting process is a procedure in which fat cells are removed form one part of the body and placed in another part. Many people find that there is too much fat in some areas and not enough fat in others. Fat grafting will allow those people to transfer the fat and thus, have a body more suitable to their preferences. This procedure has been used successfully in facial modifications such as filling wrinkles, chin augmentation, and cheek implants. Recently, it has also been applied in buttock augmentation.

Use of this technique is growing in popularity in conjunction with breast augmentation. Women have reported that using fat grafting instead of silicon implants gives a different feel to the breasts. The are more smooth and natural to the touch and they look more streamlined. The genuine look of the breast is much enhanced with this alternative to silicon implants. These observations have been reported by a Mumbai-based cosmetic surgeon named Meenakshi Agarwal.

In fat grafting the fat is removed with a syringe that has a large bore needle or with a liposuction cannula. It is processed to remove impurities that may cause infection and then injected into the desired area of the body. The fat can also be cut from the area in strips and then placed in the desired area. Regardless of the
method used the effect is a natural look, and since the fat is not foreign to the body the possibility of rejection of the tissue does not exist.

If a person is looking for a shift in the fat distribution of their bodies then this procedure is the way to go. Many have already found this out and it is expected that many more will benefit from fat grafting in the near future.

Man Alive!!

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Male Cosmetic Surgery — Tags: Add new tag, Aesthetic Surgery, Breast Augmentation, cosmetic surgery, Dr. Marco Faria Correa, face lift, Facelifts, Hollywood women, Jakarta Post, liposuction, male celebrity, male plastic surgery, metrosexuality, perfect abs, perfect hairline, perfect pecs, physical perfection, plastic surgery, surgeon, Surgery, under the knife — admin @ 2:48 pm

We have already reported that more and more men were going under the knife. The rise in metrosexuality and an increased pressure on men to attain physical perfection has meant that more and more males have been opting for surgery to give them the perfect abs, or pecs, or hairline. However, news has reached us that male plastic surgery has now begun to take over the realm of the face-lift. For so long, this procedure has been in the ownership of Hollywood women who want to keep getting the starring roles by turning back the clock on tired faces but now, according to one surgeon, men are getting in on the act as well.

Dr. Marco Faria Correa spoke out to the Jakarta Post, saying that:

“With changing standards of aesthetic surgery for men and more liberal attitudes, we see an increase in the number of men opting for cosmetic surgery.”

Men are already taking more care of their skin, having more expensive haircuts and, largely thanks to a new culture of male celebrity, are taking much more care over how they style themselves and what they wear; plastic surgery and facelifts seem to just be the next logical step on from this.   However, it isn’t simply vanity which is pushing men into more and more complicated, harsh and expensive procedures.

Men have always been competitive in the world of business and now this competitive streak has boiled over in the realm of cosmetic surgery.  Surgery is a way for men to carry on looking young and energetic and this can only be a good thing in the tiring and stressful world of business. Women have long known that, sadly, appearances count for a lot in this cynical world and it seems that now, for better or for worse, men are now catching on to this idea as well.  Whilst men are beginning to make their mark on the world of surgery, it is still women who dominate, with breast augmentation procedures constantly being the top of the surgery charts on both side of the Atlantic, liposuction is also a phenomenally popular surgery. However, as men continue to want to stay ahead and continue to chase ideals which they see on the billboards and in the magazines all around them, there is no doubt that they may well soon match women in terms of the number of them going under the knife.

New Form of Liposuction Offered in US

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Weight Loss — Tags: Add new tag, laser surgery, lipo, liposuction, smartlipo — admin @ 3:20 pm

Laser surgery technology incorporated into Liposuction could lead the way.

A surgery in Los Angeles is offering patients a new form of liposuction that can offer faster results and a shorter recovery period in a method called SmartLipo.

Dr Christine Petti, based in LA, is offering patients the treatment which involves the use of lasers, described as “a minimally invasive procedure offering abundant benefits for liposuction patients”.  Petti is the Founder and Medical Director of the Aesthetic Accents Cosmetic and Laser Surgery Centre and is a highly acclaimed Cosmetic Surgeon in the LA area.

The treatment involves placing the patient under a local anaesthetic and then making an incision using a fibre optic laser. This method reduces scarring and other after effects of surgery by closing down the blood vessels, a reaction to the wavelengths sent by the laser. As a result, scarring is kept minimal, as well as bruising and swelling which subsequently reduces recovery time.

The method also includes melting of the fatty deposits in the body using further laser techniques. Here, two wavelengths work together to mould the fat and aide in skin tightening. The company refers to the procedure as producing “smoother, more natural and superior aesthetic results.”

Dr Petti herself says, “I believe that beauty is twofold, combining aesthetic eye appeal with inner peace to create a feeling of complete well-being. We work to achieve total enhancement.”

The technique differs to the traditional one, whereby a tiny incision is made in the skin without a laser and a tube called a cannula is inserted into the body. This tube is used to vacuum out the fatty deposits that lie beneath the skin and are often unresponsive to dieting and exercising. The cannula is pushed and pulled through the layer of fat, breaking it up as it vacuums it up through suction. Even with this version of the treatment, the incision is carefully considered so as to prevent scarring on the most part. To prevent patients from going into shock, fluids are on hand to enter the body as some are inevitably lost along with the fat.

Patients are always urged to discuss any procedure with their consultant before undergoing any surgeries. A surgeon can help you to decide on the risks involved with both forms of liposuction.
