Keeping it in the Family

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Female Cosmetic Surgery,Weird and Wonderful — Tags: 34DD, boob jobs, breast operation, breast operations, breast surgeries, Breast Surgery, breasts augmented, cosmetic surgery, physical perfection, plastic surgery, post-surgical recovery, under the knife — admin @ 5:50 pm

We’ve told you about twins, about older people and about young women all going under the knife of this site but never have we relayed a story to you that showed an entire family who were obsessed with plastic surgery and the pursuit of physical perfection.  A mother and her four daughters have undergone a total of nine breast surgeries between them which gives them the highly dubious award of being the family who have undergone the most breast operations in Britain (it is not clear whether this honour comes with a medal or with some form of trophy)

The Mirror revealed not only the story, but also the family sporting matching bikinis, clearly proud to show off what they had bought with their hard-earned money.  With their matching blonde hair, the family resemblance is clear amongst the siblings; a resemblance only heightened by the fact that they all now have matching boob jobs as well! The 50 year old mother has had her breasts augmented to a staggering 34DD after a number of procedures which have steadily built her up from her original 34B size. She is the proud mother of eight children but, as any mother will know, childbirth and nursing took its toll on her breasts and she was left with what she deemed to be “milk bottles” and even after one surgery she was still not satisfied with the way she looked. It was her daughter who inspired her to get back on the table and under the knife.  Her daughter had a successful breast operation and was much happier with the result than her mother had been with hers and this convinced the mother of eight to try again and the second time around she was much happier. She told the Mirror:

“My daughters say I inspired them to have boob jobs but I’ve got them to thank for encouraging me to get mine done again. There’s no mistaking the family resemblance – but now we’ve got the boobs to match too,”

Going through surgery can be a very stressful and confusing time and having people, especially close family members, who have been there before can offer unrivalled guidance and support during the entire process from the first decision to the post-surgical recovery.  This is one family where such support and encouragement has clearly paid off and has meant that sisters, and the mother, are doing it for themselves.

Resilient in Recession

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery Finance — Tags: Breast augmentation surgery, Breast Surgery, British cosmetic surgery, cosmetic and plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, Oxygen media, plastic surgeon, plastic surgery, Recession — admin @ 10:04 am

Well, this recession seems to have been dragging on for quite some time now doesn’t it? It’s been about 18 months and still there is no let up in the gloom; no recovery in the housing market, no increase in interest rates and one of the only good things is the massive reduction sales we are seeing- if only we had the disposable income to go and spend in them! However, there is one good piece of news for all those in the Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery industry; the industry seems to be highly resilient despite the continued economic recession.

A poll commissioned by Oxygen media has shown that, despite fears about job security and financial stability plaguing their generation, 63% of 18 to 34 year old thought positively about cosmetic surgery whilst the figure rose to 73% for those people aged 35-49.  One of the lighter points of the survey was that 22% of women said they would rather have breast augmentation surgery than receive a diamond bracelet; one feels many male partners would also prefer spending money on a boob job than a decorative piece of jewellery as well.

Dr. Gilbert Lee, a U.S based plastic surgeon has spoken out about the buoyant industry, saying that: “Interest in plastic surgery remains very strong, despite the economy.” You can read other blogs on this page which might give an indication as to why this is.  Almost 25% of women who took part in the survey said that, if they suddenly gained a windfall of $10,000, they would prefer to spend the money on cosmetic surgery rather than invest it; such an attitude may not be prudent but it certainly spells good times ahead for the plastic and cosmetic surgery industry.

This recession-beating skill is not just limited to the U.S, the British cosmetic surgery industry seems like it is going to be able to weather the storm as well.  During 2008, when the economic storm first broke to mass media and market panic, there was a 5% increase in the number of surgeries performed on women within the U.K. This figure shows that here in Britain we really have a cosmetic surgery industry which is going to remain pert and resilient throughout the economic downturn. This can only be good news as, when the recovery comes, the cosmetic surgery industry will be in an unrivalled position.

Teen Angst

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Weird and Wonderful — Tags: body hang-ups, body insecurities, boob job, Breast Surgery, breasts, British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic surgery, plastic surgery, surgical solutions, teenage days, under the knife — admin @ 2:14 pm

We all remember our teenage days; crippling self-doubt, being upset about our bodies, thinking that everybody else had the perfect look and that it was only us who had been afflicted by such bodily disfigurements. Obviously, as we get older, we realise that all teenagers are insecure and that, really, we aren’t as bad looking or as fat as our teenage self thought that we were. However, there is now a rising trend of teenagers considering going under the knife in a bid to correct what they see as their physical flaws. At an age when insecurity and self-doubt are rife, is it really the right option to consider surgical solutions to body hang-ups which will likely disappear along with spots as people get older?

Perhaps it isn’t huge news that teenagers dream about changing the way they look via plastic surgery but the startling statistic that 26% of teenage girls are actively thinking about having cosmetic surgery is extremely disturbing and it is clearly connected to body insecurities which are sadly rife for young women; nine out of ten young women who responded to the BBC survey said that they were unhappy with their body. Obviously, being unhappy with your body is as normal a part of being a teenager as mood-swings and regrettable fashion choices, but when this insecurity drives people into the surgeon’s table then it is surely a trend which needs to be addressed, and quickly.

At just 13, one respondent told the survey that when she was 16 she was going to go to the U.S in order to have a boob job there. “The things I don’t like about my body are my breasts…I spend almost 100 per cent of my life thinking about it,” she told the BBC. Hopefully, in three years time she will have grown to like her looks a bit more. The pressure on young girls to look a certain way seems to now come from all ends of society, from magazines, T.V and the fashion industry; girls are taught that there is only one way to look and anything else is a dangerous deviation from the norm.

At any age, it is women who top the tables of plastic surgery. 9 out of 10 of all cosmetic surgery procedures performed by members of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons were performed on women.

It aint nothing but a family thing

Filed under: Anti Ageing,Cosmetic Surgery News,Weird and Wonderful — Tags: ageing process, Botox, breast enlargements, Breast Surgery, childhood, cosmetic surgery, Daily Mail, eyelifts, plastic surgery, Surgery, twins, under the knife — admin @ 10:44 am

Twins generally like to assert their independence. After spending childhood being dressed the same by parents and having to share birthdays and having to live with always having to share attention, twins generally mark themselves out from each other as they get older. This is what makes this cosmetic surgery story all the more shocking; a pair of twin sisters have spoken out about how they have jointly spent over £60,000 on cosmetic surgery. Amazingly, they both wished to defy the ageing process (as so many of us do) but they also didn’t want the plastic surgery to harm their identity- they have undergone the same procedures at the same time since they were 21 in order that they continue to look identical!

It all started when the twins, Jo and Kerry, went under the knife when they were younger to have nose jobs.  They told the Daily Mail that, because they were so used to doing everything together since they were children that checking into the same clinic for the same surgery just seemed like a natural progression and, at least to them, didn’t seem as strange as some people might first believe it to be.  One of the siblings, Kerry, said:

“It might sound barmy to some to have cosmetic surgery just because your twin is having it, but we would hate to look different, so we had to have the cosmetic surgery together.”

Indeed everybody ages differently; even twins would not be guaranteed to keep their identical looks as they aged. This is because the ageing process can be drastically affected by lifestyle choices, such as smoking or heavy drinking, as well as genetics. By turning to cosmetic surgery as they age (both twins are now 34) the twins can ensure that they both keep their identity without losing their youthful looks.  The £60,000 the twins have so-far spent is only likely to increase as they continue to with their equal obsession in cosmetic surgery. So far they’ve had breast enlargements, Botox and eyelifts and keep their identical look flowing with matching hair extensions and clothes. It’s a look which is certainly going to get positive male attention from them and it highlights the huge advances in cosmetic surgery over the last few years. If two women can undergo the same procedure to look the same then it really shows the consistency doctors can now achieve.

Serving Up Confidence

Filed under: Breast Surgery,Celebrity Cosmetic Surgery — Tags: breast augmentations, breast reduction, breast reduction surgery, Breast Surgery, cosmetic surgery, large breasts, private surgery, Simona Halep, teenage tennis star — admin @ 11:35 am

A teenage tennis star has taken an unusual step in an effort to improve her game. As well as the obvious things like lots of practise, a healthy diet and good mental condition, this young court ace has also decided on cosmetic surgery to help her make the leap up to the next echelon of the game.  Simona Halep is currently ranked 264 in the WTA rankings but she will be hoping that her decision might boost her position (if you can excuse that pun)

The tennis prodigy is planning to have breast reduction surgery in the autumn in order to help her mobility around the court.  It is said that her 34DD breasts are slowing down her movement and her reactions on the court and thus she isn’t performing as well as she might. It is hoped the private surgery she has booked in will help stop this problem.  Halep has commented: “The breasts make me uncomfortable when I play,” before going on to say: “”I don’t like them in my everyday life either. I would have gone for surgery, too, if I hadn’t been a sportswoman.” It is true that many women are hindered by their larger breasts and thus seek reduction surgery. The fact that Halep is only 5 foot 5, coupled with her sporting  career, means that it would have been very uncomfortable for her to carry on with the breasts at the current size.

Halep isn’t one of these tennis players who is in the sport just because of the way she looks (Anna Kornikova springs to mind). She won the junior French Open last year and is considered by many of the leading tennis experts to be a future senior champion.  If she is to be as good as the Williams sisters, or the other great female tennis players, she will have to hope that this surgery improves her mobility around the court and allows her to improve her game.

Whilst it is breast augmentations which normally steal all the headlines, breast reduction surgeries are almost as common in the U.K and thousands of women go under the knife every year to help them have a more manageable life. Let us hope this surgery helps Simona Halep to start serving up more aces and that, with improved confidence and mobility, she will swiftly rise to the top of her game.

A Male Boost

Filed under: Male Cosmetic Surgery — Tags: boob jobs, Breast Augmentation, Breast augmentation surgery, breast reduction, breast reduction surgeries, breast reduction surgery, Breast Surgery, cosmetic surgery, liposuction, male breast reductions, male breasts, man boobs, moobs, plastic surgeon, plastic surgery — admin @ 12:41 pm

Boob jobs have long been in vogue for women; every year breast augmentation or breast reduction surgeries are constantly the top of the lists of the most sought after surgeries. If you thought the breast-surgery business couldn’t get any more world-beating the think again; it’s got its eyes on a new target market- men!

As the media obsessions with “moobs” grows, so too has the number of males who are wanting to shape their chests and look fab rather than flab in time for summer. The stigma which may have once surrounded men going under the knife has now vastly receded and this can only be good news for the cosmetic surgery industry. The breast reduction surgery which many men are now seeking involves using liposuction to remove excess tissue or fat which could cause the chest to appear swollen.  Dr. John Connors, a plastic surgeon, has spoken out about the trend, commenting that: “For decades, men have been suffering the embarrassment and low-self esteem that accompanies enlarged male breasts. So it’s no surprise then that men are openly embracing [the] procedure … It’s time men start to experience some of the uplifting results of cosmetic surgery that women have taken advantage of for years.”

These uplifting results are now able to change the lives of men who have always wanted to cover themselves up rather than show themselves off. Man boobs, as they are commonly known, are not causes by overweight-lifestyles alone; many people develop them during puberty and oftentimes side-effects of medication can also lead to unwanted weight gain in the chest area.  Often, for those who suffer from this problem, no amount of exercise nor healthy eating can shift the stubborn pockets of fat and thus surgery becomes the only option.  It isn’t just here in Britain that they surgery is becoming popular; male breast reductions were the fourth most popular surgery performed in the United States last year.

Despite the recession, the numbers of people seeking Cosmetic Surgery is still rising year on year. The increase of men going under the knife can only help to ‘boost’ (if you will excuse the pun) these numbers even further.  Now that men have succumb to the craze for breast-augmentation how long will it be before they are having collagen lip enhancements and other treatments previously thought of to be a women’s domain? Only time will tell.

So much surgery so young

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News — Tags: boob job, Botox, Breast Implants, Breast Surgery, brest enlargement, cosmetic surgery, liposuction, plastic surgery, Surgery — admin @ 10:01 am

The Daily Mirror has reported on one young woman who has spent nearly £1000 on plastic surgery for every year she has been alive.  The twenty-four year old has spent a staggering £23,000 on plastic surgery and, apparently, she has no intention of stopping now.

Chloe Loughlin is a beauty therapist has had two boob-jobs, liposuction and Botox amongst other procedures; clearly her profession has taught her that physical perfection is important and Ms. Loughlin is clearly going to spend any amount of money possible to achieve her goals.

Chloe turned to surgery at a young age, 16, when her breasts shrunk; an unwanted side-effect of a diet she was on at the time. Such a dramatic change naturally left her feeling very insecure and she fought back, eventually increasing her cup size to a gravity-defying G.  Surgery is often used by people as a way of conquering low self-esteem and it often allows people to get on with the lives they want to live. Chloe’s story is proof that cosmetic surgery is not necessarily about changing who you are; it’s about increasing your levels of confidence so that the person you are has a chance to shine.

The Daily Mirror has quoted the young beauty-therapist as saying: “I used to be very insecure but now I’ve got so much confidence. I work hard, I’ve got the money to spend and what’s wrong with wanting to feel good about myself?” She also recalls the time after her first surgery: “I healed really quickly and I remember the first time I went out in a little top.” Chloe certainly hits on some good points here, if she has the money to spend and she knows it will increase her confidence, why shouldn’t she go under the knife and have the work done? Too many people get themselves into debt chasing the perfect celeb-inspired body but, if the money is there, then why not spend it on feeling fabulous?

Chloe is now planning her next procedures and, as long as the money is still there, will likely continue in her pursuit of physical perfection. One danger with plastic and cosmetic surgery is that, on very rare occasions, it can become addictive, but this is very rare and more often than not people who undergo vast amounts of surgeries are simply chasing the body they’ve always dreamed of.

Try Before You Buy!

Filed under: Breast Surgery,Cosmetic Surgery News — Tags: boob job, Breast Augmentation, breast augmentations, breast feeding, Breast Implants, breast lift, breast reductions, Breast Surgery, cosmetic surgery, plastic surgery, pregnancy, saline implants, silicone implants — admin @ 7:48 pm

Many people want to try cosmetic surgery but are put off by the fact that they can’t be 100% sure of what the results will be.

This is all set to change with new technology that can show women what the results of their breast augmentation will look like before they go under the knife. This is likely to allay the fears of thousands of women who dream of having the procedure but don’t want to end up looking disfigured or scarred like some of the patients they may read about in the weekly magazines.

The SD imaging allows women to see the likely results, note not the guaranteed results, of the breast augmentation procedure which they will be undergoing.  This means that discussions about the desired shape, size or position of the new breasts do not now have to be mere abstracted conjecture; visual images can back up any claims made by the surgeon and reassure each patient, or forewarn them as the case may be, as to what the end result will be.

Since the boom in cosmetic surgery began over two decades ago, breast augmentations and reductions have long been at the top of the treatment ladder; everyone wants the perfect pair.  The enduring popularity of the so-called ‘boob job’ is down to the fact that women of all ages and sizes want them. Indeed, as Dr. Tiffany McCormack has pointed out everyone “from young women, who never fully developed to the extent that they wanted, to older mothers who just lost a lot of the breast tissue … after say breast-feeding or pregnancy,” are going under the knife.

This imaging technology is not the only advance in the breast augmentation arena to have been made in recent years. Saline implants have burst onto the scene as a really successful and viable alternative to silicone implants for some women. However, for other, the more old fashioned silicone implants are still more appropriate.  But whatever the actual implant, whether you want bigger or smaller breasts, whether you want a lift after pregnancy or whether you want more ascetically pleasing nipples, the new SD imaging system will help women of all ages and sizes see the results of their surgery without a cut being made; it will give them a chance, visually at least, to try before they buy. That should certainly give the industry a lift!

Many people want to try cosmetic surgery but are put off by the fact that they can’t be 100% sure of what the results will be.

Something Old, Something New

In times gone by flamboyant, gushing gowns could hide any excess weight that might be stubbornly clinging to the bride-to-be wearer but changes in fashion mean that there are now not so many ruffles and plumages to hide behind.

This could be one of the reasons behind the rise in brides going under the knife before they walk down the aisle.  One company said it had already received a staggering 400 enquiries about plastic surgery for weddings since the beginning of the year! Interestingly, it’s not just lipo that these fabulous brides are wanting; they want breast enlargements as well so they can fill the tighter, less forgiving gowns which are now on the market.

The owner of the Mirror, Mirror bridal boutiques in London, Maria Yainnikaris, has commented how she has noticed a trend in women saying: “I need to wait for my fitting”. These same women then return with “very high and firm breasts”.  The catwalk has been seen as partly to blame, wedding couture is now big business and the current trend for slimmer, ‘body-con’ dresses is what the public is spending its money on.  Traditional wedding dresses were designed to be an un-sexual as possible, sexuality and the idea of the virginal bride were seen as clashing ideas.  Now however, the mounds of fabric and frills have gone the way of the virginal bride and now it’s all about the sexy, slim bride.  The manager of The Wedding Dress Shop, in Wimbledon, commented on the trend saying that: “…the trend is now influenced by delicate, fluid styles with lots of lace, thin spaghetti straps and no structure at all. There is one dress in particular that is impossible to wear without a perfect pair of breasts or a breast augmentation or lift. The dress has back cross-over straps so a bra is completely out of the question.”

However, surgeons cannot work miracles. Indeed, one leading practitioner has commented on this issue. He said that he had seen a rush of women who begin to panic as their big day approaches and thus come to demand unrealistic and unhealthy turnaround times. These women are being turned away and told that their expectations are simply too unrealistic. Looking fabulous on your big day is important, but so is feeling fabulous and you don’t want to have to run straight from the hospital bed to walk down the aisle!

Expert Advice

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News — Tags: Breast Augmentation, breast enlargement, breast implant, Breast Implants, breast lift, breast reduction, Breast Surgery, Celebrity Cosmetic Surgery, complementary treatments, cosmetic surgery, expert consultations, surgical procedure, under the knife — admin @ 9:06 pm

With the plethora of celebrities going under the knife, and the plethora of magazines queuing up to tell us about it, we may all feel like we are experts in the ups and downs of cosmetic surgery. Well, we most certainly are not.

The increasing number of people turning towards cosmetic surgery has led the industry to plead that expert consultations, with a certified and qualified consultant, are essential before making any decision to go under the knife.

“People obviously have to consider all of the options, all of the implications before they undergo any kind of surgery,” commented Paul Collins, the editor of Looking Good, before going on to add: “Breast surgery can have a psychological impact as well as a physical one, so it is very important to make sure that you’re going into these things for the right reasons,”. Such psychological implications of surgery are issues which initial consultations will deal with.

Whilst the industry has been cleaned up immeasurably in recent years, there are still a small number of shady operators who look to take advantage of people who are low in self-confidence but high in available cash. Your consultant should not seem like he is trying to rush you into any decision or force any procedures onto you which you are unwilling to have. Rather, they should take you through each step of the procedure you have come in to talk about and suggest, if necessary, other complementary treatments or treatments which may be more suitable than the one you originally desired. It is a huge physical and mental step to take and expert consultations are a vital piece of equipment to take with you as you begin your daunting and exciting journey.

Breast Surgery is amongst the most popular procedure for people to seek consultations on and many women do not realise what a big change to their life and augmentation or a reduction may well make. Nearly 8500 breast augmentations were performed in the U.K alone last year and this figure represents 8500 women who will now have a completely different approach to life. Not only will their body have changed but their lifestyle and their own mind will have changed too. This is dramatic for anybody and consultations are thus a vital part of the surgical procedure not only to advice but also to warn; what might seem like the dream in a magazine might not turn out so well in reality.
