That’s A Load of Botox – TV3′s Hot New Show

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Female Cosmetic Surgery — Tags: Breast Augmentation, cosmetic surgeries, cosmetic surgery, dermal fillers, face lifts, liposuction, non-invasive treatments, plastic surgery, The Cosmetic Surgery Show, Tummy Tucks, What A Load of Botox — admin @ 7:55 am

Cosmetic surgery has indeed come a long way from its days of being a thing only spoke of in whispers and performed under clandestine conditions. Today most people are not afraid to talk about their procedures and some are even willing to broadcast them. A new show in Ireland is doing just that.

The Cosmetic Surgery Show: What A Load of Botox, airing on TV3, is taking a thorough look at plastic surgery. Caroline Morahan, star of Off the Rails, and Dr. 90210′s Dr. Robert Rey will present the six part series. TV3 says, “This amazing multi-item magazine show will take an in depth look at cosmetic surgery in Ireland as we follow a different Irish person each week going through a different procedure whose result
will be revealed in studio.” This show will give people a really good look at what each procedure entails. Plastic surgery procedures such as tummy tucks, liposuction, breast augmentation, and face lifts will be shown.

The program is also featuring some non-surgical procedures. As stated by TV3, “the programme will feature non-invasive treatments, such as dermal fillers, being carried out live in studio. The series will get to the heart of many of the issues surrounding cosmetics in Ireland, featuring a studio discussion about an issue each week, as well as poling the public.” There are many issues and confusions shrouding cosmetic procedures and it is hoped that this series will be able to pull that shroud aside and get to the truth of the issues.

The series is not to be solely based on Ireland cosmetic surgery. It is also going to look at things around the word. As reported by TV3, “the show will take a look at many of the ground breaking procedures being practiced in other parts of the world such as the United States, which range from extraordinary to completely shocking, and as we ask whether these techniques used could be replicated in Ireland.”

This series should be able to open the eyes of many people, to the benefits of cosmetic surgeries. It will also give people a better understanding of what procedures are available and what these procedures could mean for them. The series will broadcast for six weeks beginning on Wednesday 13th January at 9pm on Irish TV3. Its result should be a new understanding of plastic surgery for many in society.

Men More Comfortable With Tummy Tucks

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Male Cosmetic Surgery,Tummy Tuck — Tags: abdominoplasty, breast augmentations, breast reduction, British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic surgery, face lifts, liposuction, male surgical procedures, obesity surgery, plastic surgeries, plastic surgery, remove the excess skin, substantial weight-loss, tightening the abdominal muscles, tummy tuck operation, tummy tuck procedures — admin @ 7:11 am

Cosmetic surgery has grown quickly in popularity. With society’s increasing acceptance, of people who have undergone plastic surgery, the number of procedures performed continues to multiply. Women can get breast augmentations, liposuction, and face-lifts. But what has been surprising, is the increasing number of procedures that men are undergoing. In fact according to The Hospital Group, one of UK’s leading providers of cosmetic surgery and obesity surgery, the number of tummy tuck procedures performed on men has increased by 60 percent in the last five years.

Many men, who have lost a substantial amount of weight, find that if they want to look good they will need to have a procedure done to remove the excess skin. A spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “Men often opt to have a tummy tuck if they have had substantial weight-loss and are left with sagging skin around the abdomen. We have seen an increase in men having obesity surgery which could have had a knock-on effect.” Tummy tucks, also know as abdominoplasty, can improve the look of the stomach drastically. The procedure is performed by tightening the abdominal muscles and removing excess skin. The remaining skin is then pulled tight and secured. This will create a tighter and firmer abdomen.

As reported in Surgery Lowdown-Cosmetic Surgery Advice, John Wright form Lincolnshire had a tummy tuck operation and breast reduction after loosing 22 stone. He said, :After the immense effort and hard work of losing so much weight it was utterly soul destroying to see vast folds of skin hanging from my body…….. I used almost ,10,000 of my savings but I think it was worth every penny.” Many testimonials from men who have had a tummy tuck are the same as Mr. Wright’s. The result of a tummy tuck make many men feel like they are a whole new person.

There has been a substantial increase in plastic surgeries performed on men in the last few years. According to Mr. Rajiv Grover, Secretary of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, “This year [2009] we have recorded a dramatic rise in a number of male surgical procedures, probably due to heightened media attention, which has allowed men to realise the positive outcomes that can be achieved.” Men have begun to put a greater emphasis on their own appearances and thus the increase in cosmetic procedures performed on men is merely a logical extension of this.

Wave Away Those Wrinkles With The Aluma Magic Wand

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Female Cosmetic Surgery,Non-Surgical Treatments — Tags: Aluma treatments, Bodytite liposuction, Botox, chemical peels, collagen, consultant dermatologists, face lifts, get rid of wrinkles, radio frequency technology, smooth out facial skin — admin @ 7:10 am

Botox has been the popular way to get rid of wrinkles and frown lines in the face for a while. A simple injection is able to relax the clenched facial muscle to create smoother skin. Chemical peels have commonly been used to smooth out facial skin and there are even more invasive procedures which include face lifts. But now there is a new procedure that can create these results easier and more effectively.

London medical has begun providing Aluma treatments. Aluma is made by Lumines Aesthetic and it employs the revolutionary radio frequency technology. This treatment conveys energy into the underlying layers of skin and stimulates the production of collagen. Collagen helps the skin to stay elastic and smooth. This treatment requires no cutting and is painless, without the use of anesthetic. This treatment is designed to be used on anyone with mild to moderate wrinkles and is not restricted to any skin types. It is typically used on the neck, and studies have shown that it may be efficient when used on the abdomen, knees, and arms.

The treatment at London Medical can be used on the face and neck areas and is performed by trained nurses. It is offered under the guidance of recognized consultant dermatologists and is very safe and efficient. The treatment normally last around 15 minutes and requires no recovery time or special care. Patients can get rid of wrinkles on their lunch break and then return to work. The effect of this procedure is considered to be long-lasting. Eventually age will catch back up with a person and wrinkles will start to reform but it is not considered to be temporary like Botox.

Another treatment offered at London Medical, that uses radiofrequency assisted technology, is the Bodytite liposuction procedure. This procedure uses a much higher amount of energy to create a heat that liquefies the fat cells which are then sucked out of the body. The heating also allows for collagen contraction which tightens the surrounding skin.

Getting rid of wrinkles when they begin is a dream come true for some people. Most people want to fight of the signs of aging any way that they can. Now, with Aluma treatments, wrinkles can be smoothed out and skin made to look tighter and smoother. These treatments are quick and painless and the results are amazing. Aluma could be the future of skin tightening procedures.

Many airlines offer perks for passengers through frequent flier points. Passengers can get free hotel rooms, free plane tickets, and even free food. Now an airline is actually allowing passengers to use their frequent flier points to pay for boob jobs.

Finnair has started offering the option to exchange frequent flier points for cosmetic procedures, as part of the Finnair Plus Loyalty Service. The Finnish airline is capitalizing on the ever increasing popularity of cosmetic procedures. A free breast augmentation can be earned with 3.18 million points, roughly 120 round trip business class flights between Helsinki and New York. Finnair is working in conjunction with the Nordstroem Hospital in Helsinki. Cosmeticsurgeon reported that, the director for loyalty programs for the airline, Mikko Tuomainen, said, “The idea was to incorporate partners and services from all walks of life.” The airline would also like to extend the program to other health care areas as well.

Of course the airline offers other procedures through this program. These include face lifts and hair replacement. Men and women alike can benefit from this program. It is another way to help people to pay for the bodies that they want. Plastic surgery is a very popular thing and many businesses are seeing that, by embracing cosmetic surgery they may be able to benefit from its popularity.

Some women have found that they can also earn their boob jobs through raising the funds on-line. Louis Aldridge form Swindon was able to do just that. She had been unable to get a loan for breast augmentation, so she turned to a website that would allow her to get donations from people all around the world. She was able to raise ,4,000 and underwent a procedure to get her breasts augmented from a 32B to a 32E.

Breast augmentation was the most popular procedure during 2009 for women. In fact the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons reported that 8,537 breast augmentations were performed on women in the UK, during that year. This is nearly 26 percent of all procedures received by women. Women wanting a boob job in 2010 will have many options available to them to raise the money for it. There are now loans, frequent flier plans from an airline, and even fundraisers for plastic surgeries.

Surgeons Prefer Liposuction For Themselves

Filed under: Body Contouring,Cosmetic Surgery News,Weird and Wonderful — Tags: American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Botox, Botox Injections, Breast Augmentation, breast enhancement, British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, chemical peels, Cosmetic Surgery Review, face lifts, invasive surgeries, laser skin resurfacing, liposuction, liposuction procedures, male surgeons #, non-invasive surgeries, plastic surgeons, plastic surgery, Plastic Surgery Channel, plastic surgical procedures, Tummy Tucks, undergone noninvasive procedures — admin @ 9:27 am

Plastic surgeons perform millions of procedures around the world. These procedures include invasive surgeries such as breast augmentation, liposuction, and tummy tucks. They also perform non-invasive surgeries such as botox and face lifts. When asked what surgeries these surgeons have underwent themselves, liposuction was a popular response.

The Plastic Surgery Channel reported that the American Society of Plastic surgeons performed a survey on some of its members. It reported that, of the 276 members surveyed, 62 percent had undergone procedures themselves. Most of them had undergone noninvasive procedures such as botox injections, laser skin resurfacing, and chemical peels. The Cosmetic Surgery Review said that there were more female surgeons who had opted for these non-invasive surgeries than male surgeons. However, the survey did reveal that a higher percentage of male surgeons underwent cosmetic procedures than men in the rest of society.

The most popular surgical procedures among these plastic surgeons were liposuction and breast enhancement procedures. In fact, more than 30 percent of the surgeons reported that they had opted for invasive procedures. This figure is not as high as the percentages for the general public, however it is encouraging. The fact that surgeons are willing to undergo their own procedures allows them to be a walking advertisement for plastic surgery.

Liposuction is a very popular procedure throughout the world. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons reported that there were 3,509 liposuction procedures performed on men and women in the UK during 2009. This means that nearly one in ten procedures done in the UK are liposuction surgeries. This procedure is popular because it can be applied in many areas on the body, to tighten them up and give the body a more streamlined look.

Liposuction procedures are quick, usually taking between 20 and 30 minutes. It is a procedure that removes pockets of fat from problem areas on the body. It is done by using a suction tube called a cannula. The cannula is inserted into a small incision and then it is pushed and pulled through the fat cells. This pushing and pulling breaks up the fat cells, allowing them to be sucked out of the body. The results are amazing and many people have learned this fact for themselves.

This survey will surely make people more comfortable with choosing to have plastic surgical procedures. Knowing that many plastic surgeons choose to undergo the same procedures they perform may raise the confidence of prospective patients.

More Than Half of All Women Hope to Have Plastic Surgery

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Female Cosmetic Surgery — Tags: baaps, Breast Augmentation, breast reduction, breast reduction procedures, British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, Christina Clogg, Cosmetic Procedures, cosmetic surgical procedures, Douglas McGeorge, eyelid surgery, face lifts, GoodSurgeonGuide, liposuction, plastic surgery — admin @ 10:28 am

Plastic surgery has progressively grown more popular throughout the years. As more and more women undergo cosmetic procedures the public gain a better understanding of its benefits. Having simple procedures done can change a woman’s life drastically, giving her the confidence and beauty that she has always dreamed of having. In fact more than half of all women surveyed said that they had hopes of having cosmetic surgery soon.

The GoodSurgeonGuide performed a study which revealed that British women are placing a lot of emphasis on looking good in 2010. They are much less concerned about getting a promotion or even finding love. Christina Clogg, co-founder of the guide said, “We were very surprised that it [looking good] was more important to some than a more successful career or finding someone special.” Looking good has become a
driving factor in our society and women are finding that they must strive to meet the ever climbing expectations of beauty. Women have made new year’s resolutions to reshape their body in 2010 with the most popular resolutions being cosmetic surgical procedures, more stringent diets, and new exercise regimens.

Fifty-one percent of the women in the UK have expressed the desire to have plastic surgery done. The most popular procedure for women is breast augmentation followed by eyelid surgery. Women can have liposuction or face lifts. With the growth of plastic surgery, the procedures to choose from are limitless. A woman can completely change the contours of her body to attain that slim sexy body that they envy. Or
they can alter features on their face to maintain their youthful looks.

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons reported that in 2009 there were 32,859 plastic surgeries performed on women in the UK. This is compared to 31,183 in 2008, a 5.4 percent increase. The highest rise in procedures was actually breast reductions which rose 17 percent over the last year. Even though breast augmentation is still the most popular procedure, this rise in breast reduction procedures shows that there is indeed a wide range of different things women expect from plastic surgery.

The President of BAAPS, Douglas McGeorge, said’ “When performed under the right circumstances, cosmetic surgery can have a positive psychological impact and improve quality of life.” The abundance of positive testimonials concerning plastic surgery is a strong motivator for women. They have heard about its benefits through the media and from people who are close to them. Women find themselves considering
having a procedure done because of the happiness they see emanating from others who have had plastic surgery. Being beautiful and happy is a state of being that all women pursue and cosmetic surgery can help them to get there.

Cosmetic Surgery : Issues of The Ageing Process Solved

Filed under: Anti Ageing,Cosmetic Surgery News,Female Cosmetic Surgery — Tags: bereavement, cosmetic procedure, divorce, face lifts, Facial volume, job loss, Loss of volume in the upper and mid cheeks, plastic surgeon, plastic surgery, Rajiv Grover, rapid weight loss — admin @ 12:13 pm

Contrary to popular belief, ageing is not always gradual. A nine year study by leading plastic surgeon, Rajiv Grover, has shown that aging can manifest in accelerated spurts. These spurts are centered upon different regions of the face and can be addressed before they become an issue.

The study began with 118 women between the ages of 40 and 45 and monitored them for nine years. Facial volume and ageing in the upper, mid, and lower face was measured and then correlated with data compiled about each woman’s lifestyle. Rajiv Grover hoped to prove that, as with children, growth in adults can come in spurts. His study did indeed prove this.

These growth spurts, that Grover found, were directly linked to stress in the women’s lives. Such stresses included rapid weight loss, divorce, illness, job loss, and bereavement. Stress is a defining emotion in the human experience and is virtually impossible to avoid. These ageing spurts can however be turned back with the technologically advanced procedures now available through plastic surgery.

The results of Grover’s study noted that ageing spurts were more rapid in the mid face and cheek area when compared to the upper and lower face. Loss of volume in the upper and mid cheeks draws attention away from the eyes and cheeks. These features are agreed upon as key areas of beauty. Women over forty who wish to maintain their youthful should keep a close eye on the volume of their mid face.

In 2009 face lifts were the fourth most popular cosmetic procedure in the UK. According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, over four thousand women underwent a face lift in 2009. Keeping that youthful face has become much more important to the women of today, because, in today’s society, women with younger looking faces are more marketable.

Whether a woman is a news broadcaster, a billboard model, or a company executive, she is held under a beauty radar and she must fit the bill or suffer the chances of being cast out. This has been proven in society time and time again. Plastic surgery can beat back that ghoul of old age and preserve the youthful beauty that creates success.

Judgmental Attitudes Toward Plastic Surgery Have Lessened

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Non-Surgical Treatments — Tags: AACS, AACS survey, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, Botox, Breast Augmentation, Cosmetic Procedures, cosmetic surgery, face lifts, non-invasive procedures, plastic surgery, Tummy Tucks — admin @ 11:48 am

The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) released a survey whose results showed that more than seventy percent of the people surveyed believe that society is less judgmental about cosmetic procedures. A breathtaking majority of these US citizens believe that plastic surgery is more accepted than it was five years ago.

Society has quickly become less judgmental about people who have undergone procedures. People who had plastic surgery were at one time considered to be vain and self-absorbed. People believed that plastic surgery was the easy way out and that a person could not truly appreciate their new beauty if they did not work to get it. As these surgeries become more commonplace people have discarded these short-sighted and judgmental views.

Some of the judgment by society was merely due to the fact that only the rich and famous were undergoing plastic surgery. This made people feel like it was just another way for the famous to get their pictures taken. Cosmetic surgery is not as expensive today and many people have more money to spend. These procedures are no longer just for the rich. When a person knows someone close to them that has undergone such a procedure they become less judgmental and more curious.

As these procedures move toward becoming mainstream, society has more information about plastic surgery. When a person sees the abounding positive information concerning cosmetic procedures it is difficult for them to maintain a critical opinion of them. One fifth of the participants in the AACS survey said that the shift in societies opinion toward plastic surgery has encouraged them to consider undergoing a procedure themselves.

The results of the study found that the three most accepted invasive procedures were breast augmentation, face lifts and tummy tucks. Of non-invasive procedures laser hair removal and Botox were the most accepted procedures. Around twenty percent of the participants said that they would consider having a procedure done and people under forty were twice as likely to consider it.

Investing in Looking Good

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery Finance,Cosmetic Surgery News — Tags: breast augmentations, cosmetic surgery, Dr. Fredric Brandt, face lifts, looking younger, middle-aged workers, non-invasive procedures, plastic surgery, Surgery, The Miami Herald — admin @ 6:43 am

New reports from the U.S have suggested that the craze for getting plastic surgery has now stretched to all the different levels of the age strata. On this blog we have previously informed you of young graduates having surgery in order to force their way into a shrinking jobs market and also of older professionals seeking surgery in order to keep them competitive and looking younger. Well now it’s the middle-aged workers who are getting in on the act. The Miami Herald carried the story a little while ago and now we’re going to bring it to you.

As the recession continues to bite and there seems to a never-ending cycle of news reports about people being laid off and large-scale job losses at multi-national companies who had previously seemed invincible, people want to take whatever steps they can to ensure they keep their jobs. However, in difficult times such as these, you wouldn’t think that people had the cash available to spend on plastic surgery and yet this latest news seems to suggest that people are seeing plastic surgery as an investment; professionals are clearly hoping that they can secure pay-rises or simply secure their jobs by investing in the way they look.

Dr. Fredric Brandt, who works in New York, has spoken out about the news, saying that:

“They consider it an investment, they feel the money they’re spending on this will help them get a job and that it will pay for itself and then some.”

Whilst non-invasive procedures have always been popular with professionals as they have very quick recovery times, this report also highlights that it is larger procedures which are also being undertaken. Face-lifts and even breast augmentations are being performed on the 40+ generation in an attempt to push their way to the front of a jobs market. However, with procedures such as these, recovery times are much longer and thus, if you were to have one, then you would have to have some time off work and this might not help secure a job in a struggling place of employment. Essentially, whilst cosmetic surgery could help you, it could also hinder you if you have to remove yourself from your job in order to recover. It is likely, as the recession continues to bite, that more people will turn to cosmetic surgery, both to help their employability and to help themselves.

Bruising Brushed Away

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Facial Surgery — Tags: Acne, Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, cosmetic industry, cosmetic surgery, eye lifts, face lifts, facial bruising, Facial Cosmetic Procedures, Laser treatment, perfect stomach, plastic surgeons, Reduce Bruising, reduce swelling, Rhinoplasty — admin @ 11:28 am

One of the main downsides to having cosmetic surgery is the bruising which one has to endure afterwards. Here we are with the perfect stomach, or nose, or hairline and all we want to do is get out there and show ourselves off to people.

However, we can’t until the bruising has gone down.  Well, this may well be a thing of the past as surgeons have announced that they may have found a way to reduce bruising and swelling after operations have been performed!

The new invention behind all this excitement is the Candela Vbeam laser which can apparently be used to treat facial bruising after rhinoplasty, eye lifts or even complete face lifts.  A study was carried out and the results have just been published in the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery journal. These results show that, on average, there was a 63% improvement in the amount of bruising which patients had to endure between 48 and 72 hours after surgery. Dr. Edwin Williams, from the Williams Centre for Plastic Surgery has added further weight to the claims by saying:

“After just one treatment with the Vbeam, our patients experienced dramatic clearance of the injured blood vessels”.

The use of laser treatment within the cosmetic industry is not, in itself, a new development. Laser treatments have long been used to get rid of the blemishes of acne, or unwanted redness of cheeks or even scars and now another advancement has meant that we, one more, have another use for lasers. Face lifts and rhinoplasty are amongst the most popular procedures performed in the U.K and, if those undergoing them can have quicker recovery times and get back out into the world faster, then this can surely only be a good thing.  Indeed the introduction of the ‘Pulsed-Dye Laser for Treating ecchymoses after Facial Cosmetic Procedures’” (or so the article was entitled) should be greeted as a revolution in the cosmetic and plastic surgery industries.

One of the things which often puts people off complicated surgeries and makes them opt for less invasive treatments , is the severe bruising which the former treatments can often induce. Such a life-changing event as a facelift is often traumatic enough, without having to contend with unsightly bruising as well. This latest innovation will hopefully change all that. With precision may well come perfection and, after that, increased confidence.
