Fat for Sale – Peruvuan Gangsters Kill Farmers for Their Fat

Filed under: Weird and Wonderful — Tags: cosmetics market, European cosmetic brokers, fat rejuvenating skin creams, human fat, human fat extract, lipo, liposuction, liquefied human fat, murder, rejuvenating skin creams, skin cream — admin @ 10:49 pm

A morbidly bizarre case has unfolded in Peru involving members of a gang who kidnapped and killed local farmers in order to drain the fat from their bodies and sell it for cosmetic purposes.

Hoping to make some quick money from European cosmetic brokers, the three gang members were arrested by Lima police officers with bottles of liquefied human fat found on them. Peru’s chief police office, General Felix Burga, has evidence that leads him to believe that this gang was one of several operating within the country hoping to export the product for use Italy. Members of the Italian mafia have also been implicated in the crime ring and are still at large.

The three men have confessed to killing five people by luring them into a remote building in the jungle and killing them before dismembering the bodies and draining the fat. The headless bodies were hung in the building with candles lit underneath them to cause the fat to melt and drop into containers.

The men believed that they could traffic the body fluids on the black market and make as much as 15,000 USD per litre by selling it for use in skin rejuvenating skin creams. In addition to the five murders already confessed to, police suspect the men in at least a dozen more killings. Col Jorge Meija, the chief of Peru’s anti-kidnapping police listed the charges against the suspects as kidnapping, homicide, and illegal firearm possession.

Experts in the cosmetic industry dispute the projected profit the men expected to make. Dr. Lisa Donofrio, a dermatology professor at Yale University in the United States said that although a small market might exist for human fat extract, it is not something that scientifically is a viable way of keeping skin supple. If there was merit to the use of human fat cells for cosmetic purposes, cosmetic surgery clinics all over the world have a surplus of the material left over and readily available from liposuction procedures.

The strangest part of the story rests in who the gangsters expected to sell their product to. There is no shortage of strange products on the cosmetics market, but this is simply not a needed ingredient in the creation of skin creams.

Lipo Lifestyle

Liposuction is a dramatic surgery which has changed the life of thousands of people who have undergone it but those considering undertaking the procedure are being warned that it is not an alternative to a healthy diet and regular exercise; it is not the easy way out by any stretch of the imagination’s waist-band.

This is not to say the people should be dissuaded from undergoing the surgical procedure; doctors recommend it as part of a three-part program, of which diet and exercise form the other two parts.  If you undergo liposuction then the message is that it’s not just a surgery, it’s a complete lifestyle choice which sees the patient changing their relationship to food and their diet forever.

Despite the world-class talent of the surgeons who provide such procedures without the cooperation of the patient, both before and after, results will not be as they should be and the patient in question will likely be left very disappointed. “Lifestyle directly impacts results” is the message being put across loud and clear by surgeons. If you ate your way into needing liposuction in the first place, then you can certainly not think this procedure is a quick-fix way to carry on with such a cataclysmic diet.

There is scientific grounding in these pleas which are being made.  Healthy eating is said to promote elasticity in the skin and this is vital after surgery as it will help the skin to tighten around the new body shape. Exercise also has its role to play in the recovery process as it will help patients to keep their weight off and begin to construct a much healthier lifestyle for themselves.

Liposuction is a procedure which is designed to remove excess areas of fat or reshape areas of the body which no amount of dieting or exercise would ever change and thus it should certainly not be ruled out.  The message is not to avoid liposuction, but just to be aware of the rigorous personal changes which will need to be made in order for the surgery to be a success.

Thousands of men and women embark on such personal struggles every year, with men focussing more on their chests and stomachs whilst women seem more concerned with their thighs or hips. Whatever the area, liposuction is not a quick fix; it is only the start of the journey.

England Faces Major Weight Problems

Filed under: Weight Loss — Tags: diet, fat, gastic band, gastric balloon, lapband, lipo, liposuction, obese, obesity, overweight, slimming, Weight Loss — admin @ 12:43 am

It is thought that demand for cosmetic surgery is likely to surge due to England‘s population facing significant weight problems.

Figures published by the government reveal that obesity levels in the state have almost doubled from 1993.

The report raises concerns by showing that one in four people were obese in 2007, which can be compared with the obesity levels 14 ago when 16 per cent of women and 13 per cent of men were considered medically obese.

The authors of the research claim that people are still not concerned enough with their need to get a sufficient amount of excercise in order to maintain a healthy body weight.

The researchers also note that the majority of the respondents did not know the daily alcohol intake allowance, which can also be linked to the obesity problems.

A number of individuals decide to undergo cosmetic surgery as a way of shedding extra pounds immediately.

Liposuction (surgical fat removal) can be used as a solution for weight problems in conjunction with healthy diet and excercise.

Cosmetic Treatments Increase in Demand in Winter

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News — Tags: Body Contouring, body surgery, laser hair, laser hair removal, lipo, liposuction, rejuvination, skin, smoother skin, Surgery, Tummy Tuck, winter — admin @ 12:23 am

It looks like in the winter months cosmetic surgery patients turn to certain treatments, such as laser hair removal, in order to be ready for upcoming spring.

Dr Timothy Jones, a plastic surgeon from the US, reported that women are already thinking about their spring wardrobe and are seeking to achieve smoother skin. An increasing number of female patients are looking for new modern ways of laser hair removal.

“Many women actually prefer to undergo laser hair removal treatments in the winter, because a typical treatment plan requires four to six treatments spaced at intervals of a few weeks,” he explained.

“With this time frame, you need to get a good head start in order to achieve maximum results by the time the weather starts to warm up and you pull the shorts and skirts out of your closet.”

Moreover, researchers claim that demand for liposuction procedures also rises during the cold season, since people want to improve their appearance before the New Year.

Increasing popularity in New Back Fat Cosmetic Operation

Filed under: Body Contouring — Tags: back fat, back liposuction, fat flanks, lipo, liposuction, love handles, smartlipo — admin @ 7:31 pm

New plastic surgery procedure targeted at removing excess fat from the back has been launched.

The procedure is known as bra line back lift and has recently faced a growing demand.

Brent Moelleken, a plastic surgeon interviewed by CBS, reported: “Women in their 30s and 40s are often great candidates for liposuction or lipo-sculpture as we call it now.

“It reduced the areas where the fat bothers them for example around the bra area or around the back.”

It turns out that bra line back lift is the most popular type of liposuction procedure. The scars left by the operation can be hidden under the straps of a bra..

Dr Joseph Hunstad, who is also a plastic surgeon, claims that the operation “rejuvenates the entire back”. The back lift operation last for about an hour and up to ten inches of skin can be removed.

A patient who has opted for undergoing the back lift procedure reported to the CBS: “I think the pleasure of seeing a more womanly shape will outweigh the small scar across my back.”

Czech Clinic Perform Liposuction on More Men Than Women.

Liposuction is getting increasingly popular among male patients

Czech plastic surgery industry has reported that men are more interested in improving their body shape by liposuction than women. The new research claims that the popularity of body sculpting procedures and surgical fat removal is experiencing a steady growth among men.

The research found out that just under three quarters of Czech surgeons claim liposuction is one of the most demanded plastic surgery procedure among men, next to eyelid and nose treatments.

There are a few different types of the popular procedure: tumescent, ultrasound and fluid injection liposuction.

John Schneider, the 47-year-old Dukes of Hazzard star, admitted to having had liposuction performed to get rid of undesirable fat from his stomach that couldn’t be shed by exercising.

“I went the liposuction route a couple years ago. I did 1,000 sit-ups and nothing was happening,” he revealed to Extra magazine last year.

Another surgical procedure increasingly requested by men around the globe is male breast reduction.

New Form of Liposuction Offered in US

Filed under: Cosmetic Surgery News,Weight Loss — Tags: Add new tag, laser surgery, lipo, liposuction, smartlipo — admin @ 3:20 pm

Laser surgery technology incorporated into Liposuction could lead the way.

A surgery in Los Angeles is offering patients a new form of liposuction that can offer faster results and a shorter recovery period in a method called SmartLipo.

Dr Christine Petti, based in LA, is offering patients the treatment which involves the use of lasers, described as “a minimally invasive procedure offering abundant benefits for liposuction patients”.  Petti is the Founder and Medical Director of the Aesthetic Accents Cosmetic and Laser Surgery Centre and is a highly acclaimed Cosmetic Surgeon in the LA area.

The treatment involves placing the patient under a local anaesthetic and then making an incision using a fibre optic laser. This method reduces scarring and other after effects of surgery by closing down the blood vessels, a reaction to the wavelengths sent by the laser. As a result, scarring is kept minimal, as well as bruising and swelling which subsequently reduces recovery time.

The method also includes melting of the fatty deposits in the body using further laser techniques. Here, two wavelengths work together to mould the fat and aide in skin tightening. The company refers to the procedure as producing “smoother, more natural and superior aesthetic results.”

Dr Petti herself says, “I believe that beauty is twofold, combining aesthetic eye appeal with inner peace to create a feeling of complete well-being. We work to achieve total enhancement.”

The technique differs to the traditional one, whereby a tiny incision is made in the skin without a laser and a tube called a cannula is inserted into the body. This tube is used to vacuum out the fatty deposits that lie beneath the skin and are often unresponsive to dieting and exercising. The cannula is pushed and pulled through the layer of fat, breaking it up as it vacuums it up through suction. Even with this version of the treatment, the incision is carefully considered so as to prevent scarring on the most part. To prevent patients from going into shock, fluids are on hand to enter the body as some are inevitably lost along with the fat.

Patients are always urged to discuss any procedure with their consultant before undergoing any surgeries. A surgeon can help you to decide on the risks involved with both forms of liposuction.

Rise in Liposuction Procedures Blaimed on Obesity Increase

Filed under: Weight Loss — Tags: cosmetic surgery, lipo, obesity, obesity surgery, Tummy Tuck, Weight Loss — admin @ 8:44 pm

Rising obesity levels in the United Kingdom convincing people to seek cosmetic surgery

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that there is a correlation between rising obesity levels and the number of men and women undergoing cosmetic surgery.

They refer to a recent study that shows that an increasing number of men are turning to breast reduction surgery to remove the excess skin left over from obesity and speedy weight loss.

Comparing the study to their own report that three-quarters of Britons are overweight, the Telegraph reports that men are finding it more reasonable to undergo treatment.

Male breast reduction surgery involves the use of liposuction to remove excess fatty tissue that forms in the breast through a condition known as Gynaecomastia, which affects almost half of men in different forms. However, the surgery is also becoming increasingly common for men who have recently lost weight.

The Telegraph’s report of obesity warned of the health problems related with the condition, including diabetes and heart disease. Figures from BAAPS (the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) show that the rise in men undergoing surgery to flatten their stomachs is as high as 61% last year.

In the past doctors had been reluctant to refer men to cosmetic surgeons, but this trend is changing as the taboos surrounding the treatments are becoming less apparent. This comes in light of recent reports that more and more procedures are becoming increasingly popular, including liposuction, tummy tucks and rhinoplasty in men and labial reduction surgery in women. Studies have also recently shown that an increasing number of women are deciding to pursue breast uplift surgery, a process that involves reshaping the breast to reverse the effects of aging.

Amongst the treatments becoming popular, tummy tucks involve the removal of excess skin whilst the abdominal muscle are tightened (hence its name abdominoplasty). To do this, surgeons make an incision below the belly button from hip to hip.

Liposuction is usually only recommended after a patient has attempted to lose weight via exercising and dieting. Certain areas of the body can be left unaffected by such actions, with fatty deposits remaining on parts such as the chin, stomach, chest, back, sides and thighs.
