Cosmetic Surgery South Africa

The proliferation of cheap flights and the ‘shrinking’ of the world due to globalisation mean that South Africa is now becoming a viable destination for medical tourists seeking cheaper cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Cape Town is a beautiful city which is certainly a destination which many of us would dream of spending the holiday of a lifetime but perhaps we might not consider undergoing dramatic physical changes there; well perhaps this latter consideration should be further to the front of our minds.  Its immense beauty is not the only attraction; favourable exchange rates are also a factor which pulls in visitors, especially in these credit crunching times.

Vital Statistics
Population: 47.9 million
Currency: Rand
Official Languages: Afrikaans, English, Southern Ndebele, Northern Sotho, Southern Sotho, Swazi Tsonga, Tswana ,Venda, Xhosa, Zulu,
President: Kgalema Motlanthe

As the above vital statistics attest to, South Africa is a diverse country with a rich cultural history and this makes it a vibrant country to visit and spend a few days relaxing and recovering.  All the major procedures which you would expect are available at a number of clinics up and down the country, most based in Cape Town and similar large cities, with some even offering an interesting choice of Surgery and Safari.

One would hope the Safari comes either before or after the surgery and that it does not happen at the same time; parading rhino’s past you whilst you receive rhinoplasty may well be unique, but it’s hardly conducive to a relaxing surgical experience. As previously mentioned, the favourable exchange rates do mean that surgery will be cheaper in South Africa but hotel accommodation, particularly if you want comfort in the capital, can be quite pricey and thus, as always, you need to factor in how long you can afford to stay on for after your surgery.

There are many clinics that you may choose to go with for your procedure. Surgical Attractions and Dr. Paul J. Skoll are two of the names which come up when performing searches for such information but it is imperative that you do your own research and find a doctor whom you yourself are happy with. Reputable companies will be willing to arrange consultations in the U.K and will also offer comprehensive check-ups after your surgery as well. South Africa is nice, but you probably don’t want to be flying out there every time you have a problem.
