Qualifications:

Mr. Fourie received his qualifications in medicine in 1979 in South Africa. He then served as a Medical Officer in the South African Defence Force Medical Corps. He followed that stint with training at the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town as registrar in Plastic Surgery. In 1987, he qualified as a plastic surgeon and earned an appointment as Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Number One Military Hospital in Pretoria. During his threes years there, he reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He began full-time practice in Pretoria during 1991 and 1992.

He joined the Pinderfields General Hospital’s Department of Plastic Surgery in 1993 and set up a Breast Reconstructive Surgery Service that deals with primary breast reconstructions and delayed breast reconstruction following breast cancer. In 1993, he began a part-time private practice Spire Methley Park Hospital and Leeds Nuffield Health Hospital. His practice became full-time in 2008.

His professional registrations and affiliations include Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with the GMC, and a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), and the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists (BAHNO).

Publications and Appearances:

Mr. Fourie has published numerous articles on the subject of nipple areola reconstruction. His tattooing technique is used by the Cosmetic Tattooists in the United Kingdom. He has also published papers in the International Peer Review Journals on various topics such as nipple reconstruction, breast reconstruction, breast implants, cosmetic breast surgery, and facial plastic surgery.
