Mr. Sanjay Varma: A Highly Qualified Plastic Surgeon
Mr. Sanjay Varma, a specialist in the fields of general plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery, is a member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), the British Association of Plastic Surgeons and the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). Mr. Varma runs an established cosmetic and plastic surgery practice and is able to see patients in both Leicester and Lincoln. Many of his patients are from the areas in and around Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.
The doctor is a graduate of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) located in New Delhi, India. It was here that he completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. He also earned a Master of Surgery (MS) post-graduate degree at the same institution. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (Plastic Surgery).
He underwent training in surgery at modern hospitals in New Delhi, India, as well as general surgery training in the United Kingdom. In the United Kingdom this training was conducted at Hammersmith Hospital, London and Harefield Hospital, Middlesex. His plastic surgery training took place in the UK at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester, Bradford Royal Infirmary, Bradford, and St. James University Hospital, Leeds.
In November 1993, he was appointed as a consultant plastic surgeon with the National Health Service. He currently has NHS practices at the University Hospitals of Leicester National Heath Service Trust and at Loughborough General Hospital, Leicestershire Partnership National Health Service Trust, as well as at Oakham, Melton Mowbray and Lincoln. Mr. Varma has been listed in the General Medical Council's Specialist Register in Plastic Surgery since May 1985. His General Medical Council number 3049031.
His current private practices are at the BMI Lincoln Hospiital, Spire Leicester Hospital and Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital. He is the Taj Medical Group's UK-based consultant for plastic surgery. Each of the hospitals in which Mr. Varma maintains a practice are fully registered by the Healthcare Commission and are in complete compliance with the National Care Standard Act. All of the hospitals have consulting rooms, day care facilities, operating suites and up-to-date diagnostic technology.
Mr. Varma has decades of extensive experience in many different plastic surgery procedures, including breast augmentation, breast reduction for both women and men, breast uplift and inverted nipple correction surgery, He has performed more than 200 successful microvascular breast reconstruction surgeries during his career.
He is also experienced in a variety of facial surgeries, including both mini and full face lifts, upper and lower blepharoplasty (eye lift), rhinoplasty (nose job), thread lift and ribbon lifts. He also does facial reconstruction surgery on patients with facial palsy.
Body contouring surgeries that the doctor performs include liposuction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), upper arm reduction, and thigh reduction. Mr. Varma also offers sarcoma reconstruction and lower limb trauma reconstruction, as well as carpal tunnel release, Dupuytrens fasciectomies, ganglion surgery and surgery to correct trigger finger.
Additionally, Mr. Varma treats adults and children who need removal of moles, cysts or birthmarks or those who have hand conditions requiring surgery. He also does scar revisions and surgery to correct protruding ears on both children and adults.
Mr. Varma is actively involved in the preparation of new doctors. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for the Membership to the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) examination, and is an examiner in Plastic Surgery for the Royal College of Surgeons Intercollegiate Board.
He has won the Leicester Asian Business Association Professional of the Year award and the Leicester Mercury Hands on Health award. He is a supporter of the Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal charity in Northamptonshire.
Mr. Varma is a member of the Expert Witness Institute. As an expert witness, the doctor is available to testify in court cases and to write reports that comply with all regulations.
